Yes barry
its no problem to do. I did mine on my 997 And 996 is retrofitable too using the piwis. You need a few parts to do it and a little wiring on the 996 but it's not hard, its is easier on a 997!!What year is the 996 as this make a difference! Also does your car have obc?? If not you may as well add this too. You just need the 4 stalk indicator unit and a bit more wiring but your doing the cruise anyway and it all goes to same plug!

If you want it done then I have a piwis and am very local to EK ;)

I could also code it for you if you wanted to install it yourself and you could have a go on the piwis to check over revs etc.

Hi Barry, I have bought the parts to do mine but not fitted it yet. Assuming your car is 2003 or later you should just need the 4 stalk mechanism for the steering column, a cruise control stalk tab in English and I bought one of these too rather than make up my own cables - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-Boxster-996-986-cruise-control-retrofit-cable-approx-2003-2004-/172182375231?hash=item2816de8b3f:g:EOgAAOSwIBBUaRUj
Looks relatively straightforward to fit the parts, just need to find the time to do it.

regards

Thanks guys, Tim what kind of time is involved in the install ? I was hoping to find a company to carry out the job - I realise that you are probably not a business and don't want to intervene on your time. FYI my 996 is a 2003 C4S with onboard computer ( did they not all have this ?)

Hi Tim,

No I didn't, I've fitted the stalks and the cable. But it needs to be connected and coded in. We fitted them in our workshop here but haven't got any further as I've not had a day off since the beginning of May :-( I need to get someone who has the correct software and knowledge to complete the install .

Hi Barry

I am at the same stage. I fitted the new stalk and wiring so just looking for someone to enable it. I was hoping to take Tim up on his offer.

Regards
Graeme

It's no problem to do it! Barry I thought you were going to email me??

can do it anytime...won't take long if you already have wired it! Just st the coding to be done with the piwis!!

Tim, thanks however apologies as I managed to mistype my number in the first pm; correct number sent in a second pm.
cheers
Graeme
