Can I buy a Porsche extended warranty on a car purchased from an indy?

Hi

Sorry, I wasn't sure what section to put this post! I've put it in the 991 section because I'm considering buying a used 991.

I've been an owner of a 997.1 C4S for 9 years now and I've had the Porsche Extended warranty for the whole duration - the warranty has done well by me and I'm going to stick with it. My 997 was bought from an OPC so applying the Porsche Extended warranty was a simple straight forward process.

I'm considering buying a used 991 possibly from an independent dealer. If it's not already under a Porsche Extended warranty, can I take it to Porsche for them to check it over and buy a Porsche Extended warranty?

Thanks for your advice all.
Matt

Excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean by on "insurance arrangement"? Is that different to a Porsche Extended warranty?

You can get a Porsche Extended Warranty but I seem to recall you have to own the car, if you buy from an independent, for 90 days before you have the 111 point check done. As you have had the extended warranty previously you know how it works! Just give your PC a call and they will confirm!

It used to be you have to have owned the vehicle for 6 months before you could apply. Not sure if this still applies.
Regards,

Clive

Matt,

The Extended Warranty is just an insurance policy offered by Porsche which covers certain items in the event of failure. As Ralph says, the car needs to pass their 111-point check (for which there is a charge in excess of £200 plus any rectification costs) for them to offer you the Warranty.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Hmmm..... perhaps buying from an indy is not the right way to go for me (because I want to have the Porsche extended warranty) unless the indy is at least £2k cheaper on a clean/fault-free like for like car.

Don't misunderstand what's being said, the extended warranty that you have had in the past is exactly the same as the one for the 991 once the 111 point check has been done. The fact that it is an insurance backed warranty is the same for all, even the third year of the warranty that comes with a new car.

I purchased my 997RS from a specialist and took out an extended warranty.
I had to wait 3 months and then have the 111 point check, mine fitted in with a minor service and my OPC did the 111 point check for 50% cost and the service for PCGB disc on parts and labour.
