Can I join in?

After a lot of pfaffing around trying to decide what to buy I picked up a Carrera 4 today. 1991 in Cobalt blue with light grey sports leather and, unfortunately, Boxster wheels. It's Porsche #8 and 911 #3, although unusually I started with 911s and then spent some time on 944s.

I'm afraid I still think the 944 is the better track car so the 964 is a road toy, though it will be my 'Ring tool of choice for a few trips and may see service on UK circuits until the 944 has an engine again. 230 miles in it hasn't missed a beat and I haven't spotted anything of any consequence that I hadn't noticed before committing to buy, so hopefully that bodes well for it's thorough going over next week, then it will be time to start making it my own.

Welcome.

I see what you mean about the wheels [:'(]

I was up at Jasmine PorschaLink today picking up some wheels and they have refurbished Cup 1s in 7" and 8" (no 9" at the moment ... I am on the waiting list). Also lots of Cup 2s in 7" and 9". Prices seemed reasonable.

Thanks chaps, that was the one and I didn't pay quite the asking price so I think it was a cheap car. I'd have been up for the Swindon meet had it been possible, but I'm sure there will be one I can make in the near future - possibly the Ace on 30th October where a few of my 944 mates will be.

I had a look on Jasmine's website in the week, but I couldn't see any Cup 1's listed. Cup 1's it has to be though, even if it means running the Boxster ones for a few weeks while I wait. Actually I have a set of Cup 1's already, but they are dark grey and have my 944's track tyres on them so they aren't really suitable.

I don't think the web site is that up to date with all the more specialist wheels. Best to phone them up once in a while if you are looking. I know they don't have any pairs of 9" rears at the moment otherwise I would have taken a set on Saturday. I am sure they had pairs of 7", 7 and a half and 8" there though. Depends if you want to run 8" or 9" on the rear.

BTW I am driving mine round on Michelin Cups at the moment but I know what you mean as the weather is starting to change.

i like wise have owned several diffrent porsches.
i think value for the money the 944 is unbeatable.itmakes a wonderful everyday workhorse as the hatch back makes it far more practical..

i too have just bought a 964 (mines a C2 though) and think it is a much better "Fun" on the road car to drive.
