Having sold my GT3 to release some cash with the intention of moving to a GT4 or a Spyder however after a number of months trying all possible options, OPC's, Specialists and contacts far and wide it is clear that unless I pay a hefty premium I am going to miss out and I don't feel inclined to be paying over £100K for a £75K car as appears to be the case with the few that have already been sold.
The Spyder is again unlikely to be available as my local OPC's are still holding deposits should any more cars become available.
So I have bought the next best thing which hopefully will give me many hours of weekend fun plus a few track days and the odd continental road trip. The car is not new but has only covered a few hundred miles and I am still running in so while it goes well I have not had it flat out yet. I find already that it comes alive at sensible speeds unlike my GT3 which was in license losing territory before it became real fun. The car as you can see has a fantastic spec and probably gets me as close to a Spyder as is possible with a GTS and I still have a sensible roof. Hopefully there will be some events where we can get out and drive the cars as they were intended. Having come from the 997 and more recently the 991 registers where there are a lot of driving events I hope that is not something I will miss out on going forward.
A few pics.

That looks very nice Geoff, and if I was to buy one it would be in that colour.[:)]

Great spec and the all important heated seats, come those sunny but cold frosty mornings in the winter a quick spin in the country LANE's with the heated seats on, just Magic.

Enjoy

And welcome to the Boxster world, yours is a fine example.

Nice car Geoff and welcome to Boxster world .The GTS is a great bit of kit and a fab spec enjoy and no doubt it will be heading to Le Mans at some point . And if you want to swap those RED seat inserts let me know[;)]

Great spec car, with the sports suspension and all - a rare find on a 981. Myself and i'm sure others have been keen hear the experiences of an owner with sports suspension. Given the previous cars you've owned and your described intended use of the car I think you'll be the perfect candidate to give an opinion, well the kind of opinion I know I am looking for[:)]

Boxster events are posted here by the very pleasant RS. Also feel free to chip in on the Spyder thread. We're not too particular over there and your car with it's spec will be of as much interest once you've got past the running in phase and start driving it as Porsche intended [:)]

Mid engine vs rear engine chassis dynamics will be another interesting discussion point. No pressure then lol[:D]

Thanks all.
Yes Brian Le Mans is provisionally booked for 2016 we are again going as a family with both Sons taking an Exige the best form of family bonding.
Initially I don't find the suspension particularly hard possibly because of what I have been driving the 991GT3 is far more civilized than the 997RS but all 3 can be used every day without a problem, however I use the car for weekends and fun and so far I think this GTS will qualify but we will see in the next few months. At the minute I am impressed, today I have had a film fitted to the front, wings and mirrors to protect the paintwork and am thinking about a proper detail for the rest of the car.
O' the noise I really should mention the sound, it does make you smile and finally the brakes, the ceramics on this car are the best I have ever used and I had ceramics on my Turbo S and the 997RS but these are without doubt easily the best.
I will report again when we really find out what it can do and how it compares with proper GT cars.

Nice was that the Porsche demo car which was up at £76k

Massive spec, hope you got a bit off it.

Yes it was, it had done 600 miles but it was not a demo the guy who had bought it was offered a Spyder so sold the GTS, Silverstone had it on SOR.
It listed at £78k and yes I got quite a lot off, the spec ticked nearly every box I've even got one painted key and one painted key complete with leather case . Taking in to consideration the OPC's cut it probably cost the first owner about £25 per mile.
I am going to give it an oil change now its got 1500 miles on it and then we will see what it really drives like. So far limited it to about 5500 rpm.
Hope your GT4 lives up to the the initial hype pity I could not get one but hopefully the spec this has got it should be a decent drive .

yes it's a mega spec for sure.

I am just hoping for the GT4 to be free motoring if I keep it and love it, or £20k in the bank if I don't, which then just means I will blow out on a 12C or a 458 with the £20k made.
