Can I use white spirit on my leather seats!!

I have noticed a couple of white marks (approx 0.5 x 1 cm) on my black leather seats which looks like paint although I have certainly been nowhere near them with paint. It will not come off with soapy water or the leather feed cleaner and I am tempted to try some white spirit. Am I likely to discolour the seats if I do or is there any other product anyone can recommend. Thanks

I have a vague recollection that white spirit can do incredible harm to leather.

Get in touch with an expert such as a saddler or Connollys.

If its dye from clothing then you can use Thinners not car paint thinners though, but very little and very gently. Immediately the mark vanishes putlots of Leather restorer on and let it soak in. However the risk is all yours it would be best to get advice first from an expert who can see the marks.

Personally, I wouldn't use thinners.

Try petrol, isopropyl alchohol or white spirit on a non visible part of the seat first. Clean rag, lightly soaked should do it.

Good luck.

I understand WD40 is a miracle product which has no detrimental effect on leather. Give it a go on a 'hidden' part of the upholstery - you may become a convert.

Some all purpose cleaner should do it, Tesco Daisey (99p) dilute 20:1 (1 part daisey 20 water) first and as said before try it on a unseen section with a clean cloth/ leather brush , if not try a 10:1 solution etc

Thanks Guys for the good advice. The marks are quite small but in prominent places so I would like to get them seen to. We do have a chap coming to repair our leather sofa in a few weeks time and I will get him to have a look at it for me.
