can not start my 997 C4GTS
Hi having problems getting my 997 GT4 started? Car has not been running for a couple of weeks. It has Been on a trickle charge, but don't-think it has been working! Charged up the battery but still will not start. I did disconnect the battery, reconnect but still not working. Have loads of power, just keeps on clicking when turning the key. Can some one please Help.

I had the same issue on my 2011 997. It had been on charge for a week but wouldn't start. One if the cells had failed. I replaced with non Porsche battery. Put the key in the ignition to 1 (to stop the alarm) and swap over is a 5 minute job. All the error codes clear when you start and drive it. I am not on extended warranty so this was an option for me. I understand its a few hundred pounds for OPC to do it.

Hi
You say you have loads of power, i assume you have checked it with a volt meter. If your power is good then it probably is the starter motor or the starter motor solenoid and that problem would give you a clicking noise when you try to start it. If you haven't got a meter then another way to give you an idea of the battery condition is to turn on your headlight and see if they are bright. If they are then try to start again and see if they go dim. If they do then it probably is the battery. If your car is manual can you get it out and try a push start , you will need help and if you can get it to a down hill gradient let it roll and try 2nd gear to start it.

Hi jm13p

Sorry should have let people know. Battery was gone, new one fitter and job done. All working well now, thanks very much.
Regards John

I often wonder whether it would have been more useful to retain the 996's voltmeter rather than swap it for the 997's oil temperature gauge. I find oil temp useful on rare track days, but in this weather a voltmeter would be more useful I think.
