Hi all,
Sorry, bad news and probably explains the long silence from Porsche Design and lack of update. They cannot put up the drinks this year (has been a tough year for a lot of businesses, so understandable) and I have requested to moved this to January instead with the January sales.

It will still be a Thursday evening (traditionally the late night shopping night in London) either 14 Jan or 21 Jan but I'm awaiting a confirmation (Germany HQ has to approve this).

Please pass on the note if you know of anyone who was planning to attend as it is too late for the next Porsche Post.

Obviously things are different in USA, I just had the invite through for their Christmas Events:

I have never been to one of these but assume they provide a few drinks and titbits to entice you to spend some noney in the shop... if they cant even afford to do this cheap offering, its a damn shame...

The cross-over of Porsche owners and Porsche Design customers is very small; Porsche Owners tend to go for the Porsche Collection, the shop you get at the OPCs. Having us there means the regular New Bond Street shopping crowd would miss a Thursday late night shopping evening. As mentioned they have postpone this to January and like last year I have requested a substantial discount for club members on that night. Last year I managed to get us the same discount that staff get i.e. some 25% off.

Please watch this space for the Jan date.

1stly, never realise about that cross-over point - and wonder why that may be the case... Secondly, by inference, the store is saying to us (my own words) - you fellas come and drink & eat and actually buy NOTHING, so we rather have some real spending customers in the store at Xmas rather than you lot ... well if thats the case, then maybe I wont bother to buy their goods from them any more... Note: Porsche Design have not given me any particular reason why this was moved apart from January would be a lot easier for them to accommodate us than now. This was not a decision taken at local level, it was discussed at Germany HQ too.

Given the current climate, I fully understand and can share the pressure on everyone with the cost cuttings: our work department Xmas party has been moved to Jan and for the first time we are not going to be getting a Xmas present this year but hey, if that saves 3-4 jobs in our very large cooperation in the long run then good on whoever made that call. It is good that most of us are in a stable financial position but I hope no one feels they are bulletproof; if any one is then please do share [;)]

The only thing poor was the communication which would have been great if they had keep me in the loop of all the discussions they were having between them and Germany...

Have a lovely Xmas and New years break.

Kish - if it was cost cutting, I guess they would have cancelled the event totally... so not sure its about cost cutting if they are moving it to January 2010... We will all see things in different ways, thats the richness of life...

Not sure who you are directing that 'bullet-proof' comment at ...

See you soon... maybe at the ACE Cafe this weekend...?
