Summer run and picnic at Bolton Abbey, weather depending! Get out the picnic blankets and join in the fun, with rounders, cricket and games to be enjoyed in the sun.

Entry to the park is £8 per car and we plan to arrive from 12.00 using the main entrance signposted Sandholme with the fountain/tower at the entrance. Ideally we will parkup together along the river front taking the right fork from the ticket booth, space willing.

Bring a picnic, we will bring cakes

If you would like to drive in together then meet up at Wetherby services at 10.00am for a 10.30 set off using this route:

Route Here

FYI: I live about 300 yards from there. It is absolutely biblically busy at the moment. The carpark down by the Pavillion (where you're proposing to park) has been full a couple of times and that's the first time I can ever remember that happening. Depending on numbers you may be better off sending an advance party of at least 2 cars so you can 'baggs' your spot! Also, if any of you are members of the Bolton Abbey or Chatsworth estates (both Duke of Dev's gaffs) then parking is free. Just show your membership card to whatever mini Hitler is on the access gate [;)]

ORIGINAL: Odiente Amanda and I will join you at Wetherby Services.
Didn't say the other night, so yes to Blubber houses. If it is raining like this, or even close the event will be off. It's only going to work if dry.

Weather is looking iffy tomorrow, BBC and Met Office all predicting lots of wind and rain in the BD23 area, plus with the recent downpour it's likely that the grounds will be swollen and boggy. Is it perhaps worth a run to the pub for Sunday lunch instead? Today would have been a better day sadly! as it's lovely outside, if chilly.

The weather is looking to be torrential all day tomorrow, not good picnic or outside weather. I think retreat is a sensible option and so we will cancel the picnic. If it is any thing like [link=http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/11397924.Torrential_rain_exposes_York_s_drains_crisis_again___YOUR_PICS___VIDEO/]this yesterday[/link] then the road is not the place to be.
