Can't get it to stay up.....

Hi chaps, just a quick question. I've had a large RSR spoiler put on my RS. OEM kit, but now the engine lid won't stay up on it's own. Is that normal? Or do I need new/different gas struts because of the extra weight? Tried putting some Viagra in the spoiler but didn't help![8D]

Never had any problems like this, or with the car [:D]

Maybe your old gas struts were a little tired and fine for the smaller rear spoiler.
I assume you have the correct spoiler ftted and it is not some 50kg copy?

I can't recall the fitment on the regular RS, but there are definitely 2 gas struts fitted at Porsche with the Clubsport rear spoiler, one each side. I would replace these, they are only about a tenner each, fitted in minutes [;)]

Thanks guys, will get some new struts for the lid. Paul, it's a OEM spoiler, weights exactly twice as much as the small spoiler!

Mick I was wondering if you were posting on the correct forum for a minute there....[8D]

Mine is carbon!!

I also needed new gas struts on my engine lid. The new ones work a treat.

Jonny,
Just out of interest, how much lighter is the carbon lid and what's the quality like?

I don't know how much it weighs. Quality seems fine though.
