Car Alarm

Just bought a 94 993 carrera. I am thinking of installing a alarm in the car .
Been around shopping but confused as to which one is best suited for the car.
Some shops say best to remove original immobiliser and install a Cat 1 alarm like the Toad Ai606. Not keen on removing the original immobiliser. Any one have both the original immobiliser and a cat 1 alarm installed?

Any suggestions much appreciated as the car is getting prepared right know for collection.

I think you should speak to either an OPC or independents for more information before setting out to remove the immobilizer in case you cannot start the car when the Porsche Drive Block is removed since I remember reading somewhere the DME for car with and without Drive Block are different.

Not sure whereabts u live, in London area a guy called Terry Hallyday 07836 201255 HAS BEEN FITTING ALARMS TO PORSCHES FOR A LONG TIME .................he is mobile these days having worked foor all the big main agents home counties and Reading...........on my 993 he took original Porsche Bloc system and merged it with an alarm for Thtacham 1 certificate, theres anew one just out where u end up with 1 control box instead of 2 ..................DO NOT REMOVE the bloc system whatever u decide ...........my insurers requier tracker on any Porsche now he does those also

Had PA2000 system fitted by OPC when I bought the car and they left the original immobiliser in there, so I now have two. Causes no problems at all.

When I had a Cat 1 alarm fitted in my 968 it was decided that it could cause more problems by trying to remove it. Two immobilisers just give double the protection[:D]

I have a '95 with the usual Porsche fitted imobiliser and an aftermarket Laserline Series 4 (993 specific) to upgrade to CAT 1. Works great, plenty of easy to change alarm options, comes with electronic blip that opens door locks and disables alarm. 01925 406300 for nearest dealer (no affiliation).
