Well as I have just got my car back, again!!! after being away, I thought I had better carry on the spending and bought this Strasse Lip Spoiler.

Thanks "Big Dave UK" nice to meet you today, ( and dust off that old windsurf gear, you know it makes sense ) I will try and get it fitted at the weekend.

Looking forward to seeing how it looks.

You will have to be careful near speed cushions with that on Lee !!!!!!!!!! too many of them around me to fit one

I did think of one myself the other week. My insurance OEM replacement has now been fitted you probably didn't notice the split in it on the corner George got a good pic of it and is now permanently on display in the colours section of the forum.the split can be clearly seen just in front of the wheel. The car had been curbed and reversed creating the damage to the undertrim

pics before and after fitment please

They're actually better over sleeping policemen than the standard undertray thing I've found which is because it's flatter underneath. It'll look nice on there too really improves the front end look I reckon.

Lee, did you buy it off Big Dave - if not, could I ask how much it cost (unless your missus is reading this of course, in which case you found it....[;)])?!

I've not bought any 'shiny bits' for a while and I need a fix![:D]

It was indeed off Big Dave. If this had not come up I would have bought one from Rich for ÂŁ140, but as I was in Blackpool with work today it was convenient to pick up..

I agree with Jon and Jon re: ground clearance and parking.

I take it this is the one that is "better than the ESS one". Not to say there is anything wrong with it (which I can't see there is as it isn't just a lip that attaches to the flexible PU which then bends with any downforce applied), but as it wasn't answered last time I asked and it isn't apparent from the picture - how exactly is it better than the ESS one?

I take it it extends back far enough to attach to the factory plastic undertray that sits beneath the sump (as does the ESS one)?

Sorry I haven't come back to you sooner re that splitter Rich. I've been mucked around by another vendor and have been waiting on him to get back to me. Hope someone picks it up at that good price.

Hi Fen

Well I bought the Lip Spoiler described as better than the ESS,although apart from slightly different shaped mouldings it is difficult to see the difference. It does meet up with the factory undertray, although I have not fitted it yet. I would have been happy with the ESS one, it was just this came up at the right time and the right place[:D]

This was made by the guys from Strasse in Leeds for their race cars in the 90's I believe. The mould for this was sold recently on E Bay.

Cheers

Lee

It looks near enough the same as the ESS one, with the exception that it isn't carbon fibre like mine, which I've decided makes mine better.

Well fitted the lip spoiler, looks fab, after a nightmare trying to get the old undertray off [] Bolts at the outer ends all rusted solid to form one peice of metal. Not sure how I would now put the old one back if I tried.

One problem I do have and maybe someone who has fitted one themselves can help me here. Due to it being closer to the underneath of the car there is less clearance between engine etc and undertray now.

This is causing the front edges of the plastic inner arches to sit lower below the car than the spoiler ( I have had to bend them slightly in towards the wheels to alloy the spoiler to sit against the bumper ). this in turns means they can flap about in the wind and once moving I think would bend back under wind pressure and hit the front tyres.

If anyone has any ideas I would be gratefull.

I will pop some pics of the plastic arch protruding below the spoiler here.

Looks really good now with that fitted it really gives the car a more aggressive stance I reckon and looks a little more modern especially with clear indicators too. I've had a few of people come up to me and mention how nice the car looks and some of them ask about the splitter, which is quite odd because I didn't really think the 944 was the sort of car that turns heads really, after all it's not really a Lamborghini ( I pass a Murcielago roadster on the way to work every morning I really want one)

Have you any of the clearance issues that I am having with the inner plastic arches catching the back of the splitter as per my pic above?

I honestly don't remember the inner arch liner problem you have with my splitter, but I can't see how it would have been any different either [&:]

Hi Fen

I cannot see how to get around this one. I will have another look tomorrow with a clear head.

Another pic below taken from different angle to show which section is dropping below. It is where the air duct comes through from the front bumper. The section of plastic arch below that.

You can see it on the first pic I posted sticking down below the splitter.

Strange []

Cheers

Lee
