Car cover

I keep my Boxster in an un-heated garage. I have been using a Covercraft car cover which I have had for a number of years & used on different cars. Despite having a de-humidifier running, the cover felt a bit damp when i took it off today to give the car a run.

What are the thoughts about car covers ? Do they cause more harm than good ?

I use a Carcoon for the 3 months my 981S is off the road during winter. I also first use the Covercraft then inflate the Carcoon which keeps the car dry. Some caravan dehumidifying silica gel containers ensure the interior is bone dry. I always find just the cover always seems to attract moisture.

I use my cover mainly to stop scratches to the paintwork when I brush past it. The car stays dry in my unheated garage unless there is a sudden rise in temperature when condensation forms (about twice ) while the car is off the road in winter. This soon evaporates and does not affect the car as it’s fairly new and well under sealed etc. It’s not something I worry about.
