Hi
My car has an intermittent problem. It starts ok from cold, will run for about a minute then stall whilst being driven. When I try to restart it the engine turns over but will not restart straight away. After a few minutes it starts and runs well. Once it has got over this initial problem it runs perfectly, I have just completed a 250 mile motorway journey with no mishaps. Any advice will be most welcome.
Regards
Jerry

I had a similar problem, and there are quite a few topics about this on here, general consensus is in this order:

DME relay
Check/clean all earths for ECU, engine bay, gearbox earth, etc.
Check or swap crank reference (speed) sensors
Swap ECU

It took me until the end of the list to get to my problem, hopefully you'll resolve it much sooner. I had a about a years worth of driving with intermittent stalling, it would often take a good few minutes to get the thing going again, until totally gave up and would only run for a few seconds.

From a different angle it could be the fuel pump, but I would suspect the above first.

I had a similar problem with a previous car...it was the DME in my case, as the advice goes, always carry a spare one ...gulp just realised my spare went with the old car..moral, if you give advice..follow it yourself. As Big Nige says its the first place to start

Yes agree DME but as well as checking earths have a look at the fuel pump fuses, they can corrode in clips. Might be worth just rotating/cleaning all fuses and as a thought check the bulkhead connections under dash on drivers side. just recalled had non restart when had an SC at petrol station turns out i had one of these connectors come loose

Hi Jerry

My car had this problem some 18 years ago ,just after I aquired the car. After exhaustive investigations, starting out with the most expensive options, it turned out to be the coil. Damage had been caused by agressive steam cleaning by a previous owner.

Hope this helps, but you should also contact Charles Marsland who is the Register Sec for 3.2 911carrera32@porscheclubgb.com

Good luck

Have fun

Thanks for all your help.
I have replaced the DME relay and so far so good!
If anyone needs a relay I got mine from Ramus Porscha Tel 0121 557 7911 for £22.71 including postage which seems quite a reasonable price.
