After having problems getting first and reverse gears.

Car was booked in to JCT600 for Tuseday, however on the way home we got a nice crunching nose then could not get any gears [:(]

Called Porsche assitance.

Driver was able to get first , however after a quick trip round the car park, he was unable to get first or reverse.

Scouser said it sound like gear linkages or could it be the gearbox ?

ps - RMS was done in July, could this have anything to do with it ?

pss - can we have a spell checker please

Was that simply adjustment, or were there some parts involved? Sounds pricey.

Spellchecker - it seems like you have to download it (by clicking on the ABC button when you post) but it seems like a lot of faffing around to me, and I hate all these bl**dy add-ons and toolbars.

Don't beleive that it was a broken cable. You said that you could get first sometimes, so obviously the cable was still attached. If the cable was broken your gear stick would flop around backwards and forwards (or side to side depending on which cable was broken). It sounds to me as if the linkage cables had become damaged in some way - I would be seriously arguing with them over the extended warranty coverage - surely they expect a gear linkage to last longer than that!! Go back and shout a bit louder!

Good on you! I had a new gearbox (C4) totally free of charge under warranty. You have to be forceful with these Porsche dealers you know - they think we're made of money. Glad you got a result.
