Had my 997 for a few months thumbed through the service book stamps all present and correct and that’s it .. I know data protection is paramount nowadays but after having classics with folders of paperwork I wondered can I at least get some of my 997.s history from an OPC ? build sheet / order spec , work invoices etc etc just seems a shame .. maybe I’m too old and this is how it is now .. Also originally from Porsche Exeter it’s been through an independent dealer since and has independent plates on it .. but I want to get original dealer plates back on it …. again am I showing my age and this doesn't happen anymore? ..

I went through the same process a few times.

Call all the OPCs and garages that serviced your car. You’ll be surprised how many will supply the information you want. Some will do it if they can redact names.

The DVLA will also have all the MOT information.

I have been trying to get more info, particularly as mine was categorised as CAT D back in 2011. I have the FSH stamps in log book and some invoices from the last owner. I have contacted two of the specialist Porsche service companies. Both confirmed the service history stamps. The first one would send me a copy of the one missing invoice if I got permission from the owner at that time. The other I'm still waiting on but they have been very responsive to date.
You get some good basic information with something like Carcheck - cheap, quick and provides all the MOT dates with mileage.
I'm going to try a local OPC tomorrow to see if they will print out the original build sheet for me.

I have emailed Porsche Exeter and hopefully they will come back to me maybe if I said I've also got 150k to spend on a new one they'd come back a bit quicker .. Also i want to get Porsche centre reg plates put back on it as they are independent plates at the mo .. Not too sure what the rules are about plates and having them made nowadays ..

Call the OPC, they’ll make up the plates for you with their stamp on it. If you get it elsewhere, that place will put their stamp on it. Depends if you care about such things.

This often works for a spec list not from the OPC and my C2 doesn't have any missing descriptions. Mine seemed correct although I have never found where the battery disconnect switch is hidden.

I paid £42 for new OPC plates back in 2017. It takes less than 10 minutes to make them up and the materials are cheap (I used to make them up when I worked at a car auction). I suppose 10 minutes at OPC rates makes a big number and they get the free publicity of their name on your car.

I had tried vinanalytics.com previously and it didn't work for me. However I tried again today and after registering it worked. It just gives you basic information for free and a full report for $8.99. Compared to the one I got from the OPC, it is definitely worth it.

Thank you all ... opc have been in contact so hopefully i,ll get some info together and the plates made up
