Car History

Hi All,

I've been trying to piece together the history for my 1971 911T.

I’ve got the original service book which shows that it was ordered in via Kendon VW in Harbor City, USA. was serviced there several times before the car was then looked after at Sierra Porsche, California. And then Carl R Carlson, again in California.

I also have the CoA, which confirms the car is matching numbers and details out a list of optional extras which includes amongst other, electric windows, climate control and ”S” shocks and brakes.

Just wandered whether Porsche hold any other records, like the original build sheet, that I could get my hands on? Or whether there any other record sources worth looking at?

Any help or guidance would be appreciated!

Craig

The build sheet or Kardex as it is called is only available for up to and including 1969. Even then these are not available directly through Porsche official channels.

Craig, PCGB have some records but only for cars imported via AFN of which the vast majority are RHD cars. Your CofA seems to show much of the details relating to the car which is more than Porsche Cars will supply today. What more are you looking for?
There are a few sources that may be able to supply a copy of the Kardex but Porsche AG are not keen about them supplying the details that are on a Kardex. This is probably due to the Data Protection laws in the EU. Rumour is that if you can get a Kardex from the USA they are currently over $100 each.
Good luck hunting.

Thanks Robin, strangely I have just reached out to someone the other side of the pond to see what they can get their hands on!
Wasn’t looking for anything additional to whats on the CoA in particular, but just thought if something was available which shed more light on the car it would be nice to obtain it!

So have had a response to a contact given to me. he reckons he can obtain the records used to the CoA, and provide an extended report for about £100.
Going to give it a go and see what i get back.

So, finally got round to purchasing the additional Factory history. Took a couple of days to arrive after making payment. It includes all the info on the CoA, but a far better break down of options, production number, US import dealer and ports, all quite interesting. adds a bit more history to the car, and for £110, was worth while.

Well done in getting the history for your car, I would be interested in hearing what sort of details you got from your contact.
No specific details just an overview of what you found out.

Does anyone know if you can trace down an American number plate against the VIN number? Would be really interested in find that detail out for my car.

in addition, I’ve just written to both the DVLA & DVSA to seek if I can get duplicates of the IVA and first MOT’s as these aren’t included within the history file I have.

Will keep you all posted if I have any success.
