Hi guys
Could anyone please point me in the right direction for a competitive car insurance quote on a 86 Carrera, as my insurance company have wacked up the price for no reason by £150 extra a year. I also want to get a quote on a classic car insurance, limited miles etc so if anyone has any thoughts on this this it will be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Gary

You might want to ask an Admin to move this to the 3.2 area - You've posted in the area for asking for help with the forum/website software itself.

ManninUK are very good. 01491578759. A friend swears by Asset Trust (I don't have their number).

I've justed switched this month after years with AON to Heritage.
As a club member I qualified for a discount & their policy was over £70 cheaper than Aon's who only offered to reduce their premium by £30.
Heritage also included track days at no extra cost.

Cheers

Adam

Only other good companies not mentioned are 'Performance Marque', 'Peart Insurance' & who I'm currently with for my 3.2 is 'Classicline'.

I user Classicline as club track days are included for free, cost is £325. Used to be with RH Specialist but they didn't do track days and were slightly more expensive.

From memory Adrian Flux didn't like modifications, next year I am plannig on getting quotes from A. Manning and Hegarty.

I tried AON but they wouldn't let me do track days as I had never done one before, they are on the black list along with Carole Nash who wouldn't insure because I hadn't had a similar performance car before. As a 35 year old I thought this was ridiculous.

I was with AON last year and was not impressed with their telephone manner and I wasn't even making a claim...

Avoid 'Performance Insurance' part of the 'Mayfair Group' []

I have insured through Footman James for years. I have a multi vehicle classic policy, with my 3.2 Carrera, a 944 S2 Cab, a 1950 Series 1 Land Rover and a half scale model. All have agreed values, and share a limit of 6,000 miles a year. I also have full business use as I occasionally use the Porsche's for work. The premium is approx £500 pa

Worth a thought if you have more than 1 vehicle.

Interesting. Mine is up next month. This year I am paying £242 with Heritage(Chaucer policy) who have insured me for years. 3.2 SSE agreed value £30k garaged in Devon . Full UK and European breakdown cover. Legal Expenses.1500 miles pa. Expecting an increase rang Carole Nash who recommended best deal as Chaucer and quoted me £ £197.
So I thought I would ask them about my good ladies S2. 3000 miles. Kept on private driveway. Agreed value £7500 breakdown cover etc as above currently insured with Heritage (Chaucer policy) and renewed April this year and paid £280.
Carol Nash quote £ 205.50
Methinks Ive been ripped off !! Ive insured both cars with Heritage for many years
and never bothered to ring round. Ive learnt my lesson. (The track car is also with them) But how come these quotes are all from the same underwriters policy yet Heritage want nearly 20% more on mine and 30% on my ladies.
Perhaps we are paying for their PCGB sponsorship ?

Same excess?

Heritage haven't been competitive for my carrera because it's not garaged. However, I've had excellent service from Classicline so far.

Did you guys have to put an immobiliser on the 911 for classic insurance? I tried to get the clubsport covered but they wanted this and I am not prepared to install one.

Thatcham Approved Cat 1 imob was an absolute req. for my insurers.
IMHO all cars are better protected from theft with a quality imob than what they are with an alarm.
