Car just died on me

Not as bad as it sounds I hope but I'd just popped to the shop and the car died just as I got there. It just lost all power engine cranks but does not fire.

I need to get the car home soonish because it's parked right next to a kids playground and I don't trust the kids round there
Although I do have the local kebab van man keeping a eye out for me.

Any ideas what this could be
I did have a crank sensor issue last year bought a pair but only us red the one as it was only one I needed could it be the other one gone

I have also noticed over the past few days that when I start the car it does crank over a fair few times before for firing up

Not necessarily a 944 issue but that could easily be fuel pump or of course the famous relay.

Regards

Mas

When I bought the car it had a non start issue. So I replaced the pump and relay but that was about 3 years ago now. You'd of thought it would of lasted longer than that

Iv now been back up to the car and I first tried to start it. It did try to start but chugged and died. I did try my spare sensor but done nothing. So iv managed to Coast it down the hill and park it up closer to home.

I'm working tomorrow for a few hours. But when I'm back I'll have a little root around check it's getting enough fuel if any.

Once conked out in mine and it had no petrol despite the gauge reading quarter of a tank.Worth checking.

My other two cars are desiels.

But ones up in Cumbria it also died on me last week on our way home from a
Trip to Scotland. And the other is the wife's cars

I think Steve was referring to the fact that you had just filled the car up...did you mistakenly fill her with diesel?

Pete

Nope green for white car. Black for the two black diesels

Made a jumper started first time. Looks to be the relay.

It's died again on the way home. I can't here the pump whirring now.

Take it the pump knackered now

As well as the DME Relay you need to check the fuse for it. I had a problem with my 924S, checked the relay which was fine, everything started working again when I checked the fuse.

worth a look.

Cheers,

So today iv managed to get out there. I'm still having no luck. Iv got a spare pump. But before dismantling it all I ran a 12v straight to the pump. And the pump work and engine runs. Put the jumper on I get nothing. So I'm getting no power to the pump????

I'm guna have a look at the relays I have to see if that helps. But surly if I'm getting no power with the jumper I'm not going to get any with a working really. HELP PLEASE!!!!

The way I fixed my 924S fuel pump was to run a direct link from the live side of the fusebox to the DME relay. I connected a switch inline which was hidden away so it acted as an immobiliser. Not probably up to Porsche standards but it worked.

Cheers,

Now that is what I was going to do but as I was doing it I found the problem

And a easy one at that

EARTH/GROUND

i ran a earth/ground wire direct to the pump turnt the key
AND SHE PURRRSSS

I have kept the switch tho. Just because it fills a hole where the speaker fader thingy was
