Got a day off work- Friday, work 6 days a week ( aargh ! ) day off spend with my little girl but got an extra day this week, decided against the usual 15 hrs in bed but instead embarked on a mission to get the Porsche looking mint. Took over 5 hrs using Zymol, Autoglym etc, 2 lots of polish, alloys look awesome, girlfriend thinks im potty but in the sun today it really looked the part. Never see 944 's on the road but parked up next to a Turbo earlier on today even he commented !.

Just as a footnote, car going through quite a bit of oil using Castrol Magnatech , anything better ? .

Cheers all.
Really wish I could attend the Rolling Rd day but boss is off that day so Im in - oh well theirs always the next one.

Magnatech 10w40 should be perfect for your car. Ideally it shouldn't use a drop between services.

Some Turbo owners who get through a lot of oil switch to Mobil Motorsport 15w50 which is slightly thicker

Hiya , Ive gone through about 3 litres in the last 2000 miles, 3 times the warning light has come on. Non Turbo car is this level of oil about right ? , Hartech did say when I bought the car it goes through a bit of oil- this just seems quite a lot to me.

Cheers
Chris

I would be woried at 700 miles to the pint let alone 667 miles to the litre. Obviously it isn't smoking or you would have your answer. Check for a leak. Put some newspaper under the car, right back to the bell housing and run it to warm it up then let it stand. Look to see where the drips are.

I'm using Castrol RS 10w/60. I get through about 1 ltr every 1000 miles. I have a smallish oil leak at the back of the engine - could be main bearing seal in my case.

Cheers all. obviously got some kind of leak , car is running great ( touch wood ) will try and ascertain the problem area.

Cheers
Chris

My S2 also has a leak, but it still doesn't use any appreciable amount of oil. Turbos like to drink it, S2's normally keep it in the sump. Sounds like you have a sizeable leak, but remember to remove the undertray before you try the newspaper test.

I have a couple of sweats formt some seals. I have now done 5000miles since getting the car and put in 1.2l of Mobil 1. Very happy with that.

Even 1l every 1000miles is not unreasonable oil consumption, especially for a slightly older car.
