Car misting up!

Some advice please. I had noticed my car ,00 C4 cabrio, running ever so slightly rough and I had a drop in mpg from 21.5 to circa 19.5 and I thought maybe coils but no warning lights etc. The problem passed and I had put it down to dirty petrol in that car running without apparent drop in preformance. However I had noticed it was noisy from the front end in heavy traffic since then and felt the fan(s) were labouring when clicked in by engine temperatures. This morning however I had two instances where the car fogged up inside as if the a/c or side fans had stopped, the windscreen stayed clear. On pressing the full windscreen demister it worked and switching off and on the Auto mode on a/c cured the problem! Checked a/c operation and it pumped out cold air at 18 degrees.
Any ideas what the problem might be?
Thanks
Collie.
Ps any further replies to my last post re C4S engine cover?

Hi Robert I do run the a/c all the time. Touch wood I have had no further instances since putting up the post.

I never use my air con, you know you loose power and have higher fuel costs when you use it don't you ?

Fuel costs more than offset by the need to have the aircon system rebuilt due to dry seals, bacteria etc if you don't use it.

It makes less than 1mpg difference on mine, no difference that you'd notice in performance.

I think it's ok if you use it once a week though.

Hey Jamma,
If you press the gas pedal really hard, that knackers your mpg to!

For god's sake man, if you can afford a 911, aircon is the least of your problems.
