Car Storage - Colchester

Hi guys

I wondered if anyone from around the Colchester area knows anywhere that offers car storage.

I've been looking for a couple of weeks now, and want relatively easy access because I will be using the car every week or two. The only price I've had so far is from Peldon Storage which was a ludicrous £156 a month.

It seems that very few places advertise, but the cheapest forms of storage are generally is farm barns which generally only get about via word of mouth.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Chris

Hi

You can try Gary Bennell at Boxted near to Colchester as he used to store my Cayman S but not sure if he takes cars anymore. 46 Straight Road, Boxted, Colchester, Essex, CO4 5HW.

Plaese say Kevin Nunn gave him the details. Yours sincerely Kevin.[:)]

Thanks, that's pretty close to me. I'll try to track a phone number down, failing that I may just knock on his door.

Have you tried looking for a private garage to rent on say Gumtree ?

I've looked in a lot of places, emailed a couple but never had a reply. I've also applied to the council, but worry that council garages would be too small for a big car.

I've had another response from somewhere though, £100 pcm to park in a rusty shipping container in a field, awesome! I find it quite incredible that insurers would rather I parked my car in a container/shed in a random and isolated field miles from my house that I may not visit for a week or two, than park it behind 6 foot locked secure gates at the back of my house. I spent a couple of years working in insurance when I first left school, so that stupidity shouldn't be a surprise to me.

Thanks Kevin, this might be working out quite well. He doesn't have a space yet, but one is coming up in a month that I've secured. It's close to my house and I know his yard, as the guy who's done a lot of welding on the 944 has his workshop there.

Sounds cheaper to change insurance companies.

Insurance has been great! Only 2 quoted at all due to my girlfriend only having a licence for 18 months, and 1 of those wanted the car home!

I've paid for 3 months with Gary, just sweating now on whether it will fit through the door!

Hi

Was happy I was able to help you out as Gary is a great & fare person to deal with when I stored my Cayman S with him.

Yours sincerely Kevin.[:)]
