Hi,

My car developed a fault yesterday, when i lock the car either using the remote or with the key in the door it locks and then a few seconds later unlocks itself and the horn beeps twice.

The doors seem to auto lock ok when driving. I tried locking the car by leaning in through the drivers door and using the button on the dash which worked but when i held the key in the lock position to raise the drivers door glass the horn beeps again the passenger door unlocks but the drivers door remains locked, any ideas?

A double-beep means a system fault, a single-beep means an open compartment. The problem is a broken or stuck microswitch in the door lock mechanism. (see the Door Microswitch thread in the Tech Articles section). You can lock the car with the key by using the emergency locking procedure - turn the key to the lock position and back 3 times in quick succession.

Thanks richard,

I'm able lock the car by pressing the button 3 times, I now need to figure out which door has the problem.

It might be time to buy a Durametric cable, do you know if the enthusiast kit will enable me to pinpoint the exact microswitch at fault?

The tech article says "These switches are (apparently) made by Burgess, but as yet the source and part number is unknown." any progress on identifying a supplier/part number?

I'm not sure the Durametric will read the input signals on the alarm control module. It might be worth emailing them to check first.

Where are you located? If you are anywhere near me I would be happy to check it out for you.

Still not sure about the switch, I'm afraid.
