Car won't disarm or open

HELP!

Left the car for 3 weeks whilst on holiday but it won't now disarm or unlock using the alarm fob. Also tried the key and that won't work. Key goes in but won't turn. The key has worked in the recent past. It's a cabrio and the alarm keys should open the roof, but no luck there either. Perhaps a red herring but I had two new alarm keys some months ago. Everything worked OK after the purchase so I'm not expecting these to be the problem. I have called the AA but not sure they will be able to help.

All help very much appreciated.

After 5 days of inactivity the alam goes into energy-saving sleep mode. In this mode the key remote locking is disabled. You have to unlock the car with the key, and switch on the ignition within 10 seconds (otherwise the alarm goes off). If you can't turn the key, either it is the wrong key, or the lock has jammed.

Thanks for the quick response Richard.

Good news is that the AA man got me into the car, using things!! they have and managed to but life back into the battery to start it.

Bad news is that the lock has jammed, I can turn key to lock (clockwise) but can't turn the key to unlock.

Any suggestions on repairs or do I need to get new locks? I say locks because I don't want to car two keys with me; one for the door and another for the ignition!!

Thanks
Shahid

When mine goes into standby, I actually lock the car with the key.
This then enables the keyfob to work once again as normal... bypassing your jammed lock issue.

It also stops the alarm from going off when opening up..

Porsche can order you a lock barell from the VIN of your car, so it will match the ignition. £187 +VAT, though. Ouch!

Thanks everyone for your help. Looks like the holiday got a little more expensive. A trip to the OPC it is then!
