Car won't start

Well this is only the 2nd time in 18 yrs of PORSCHE ownership, so I suppose thats a good record; but always worse when you need the car at that moment !!

Unlocked the car, in with the key and nothing !!, not a click or mumour from anywhere.

Did the obvious check of fuses, called out the recovery whcih was very quick, he scratched his head "said I know nothing about these cars"....... on the recovery truck and off to AUTOBAHN PORSCHE where I purchased it from.

So any bets on what it is ?

Will update when I know.

Mark,

I had exactly the same issue with my Boxster last year. Stick the key in, turn, all the lights come on, nothing. Give it a few minutes and it started.....took it to the OPC a few times....of course it started every time.....they first thought it could be the DME, then the Immobiliser....or more accurately probably the Alarm control unit.

Since they fiddled with it though, it's started first time every time.....strange.

How much is the alarm control unit to replace anyway?

Rodney,

Not sure how much the unit as PCT CARS have ordered it, will find out when the car is fixed !! Although it should be covered as I have a warranty.

Will let you know.

Mark,

Had a similar problem with mine recently.. Do all the lights come on the dash as normal but when you turn the key nothing? Battery all checked OK etc..

Mine turned out to be a bad earthing on the starter motor.. fixed by OPC Hatfield..

regards

Dave

Dave,

Yes everything looked normal with lights etc.

Now fixed with replacement Alarm Control Unit !
