Caravan Electrics

I feel gutted.
Having sold my RR, and bought a Diesel S, I now discover the same problem that has been previously posted in the Cayenne area....." just bought a 2011 (2012 m/y) Cayenne Diesel and got an electrically deployable towbar fitted. On collecting the vehicle I was dismayed to be told that it cannot run the electrics in a caravan (fridge, battery charge etc) that UK twin electrics do."
Although Colchester PC assure me that this problem can be solved with a part from Germany the delay in achieving it (over 3 weeks now) is leading me to believe that it is not.

The Macan brochure quite clearly states:-

"As standard, the vehicle comes readyequipped with all the necessary preparations."
Well - it doesn't. I intend to take this further and may even reject the vehicle as not "fit for purpose”.

Hi Have you tried one of these, cost about £12 - £15

Hello Stephen
Err.......not too sure that I explained the position correctly.
The Macan does not feed pin 10 on the 13 pin socket - which is the one needed to power the fridge.
During my enquiries I have received this information from a fellow Macan owner. His OPC elicited a response from Porsche DE on a technical ticket issued about twin electrics.

"There is no provision in the car for this function and none planned. Unfortunately, we are unable to recommend wiring take off points on the vehicle for the fridge due to the battery management software. The vehicle is designed to tow a trailer which only includes the basic lights and indicator functions. On previous Cayenne vehicles this was not an issue, however all current Cayenne and Macan vehicles have battery management software and the vehicle is not configured to take into account an additional draw of electrical components in association with trailer wiring.”

Colchester OPC are hoping to find a solution - but it is now nearly another 3 weeks down the line.

I will continue to report as this develops.
