Has anyone tried the Carbon Dynamic Air induction system? The Porscheshop website quotes improvements of 10-20 BHP which seems a lot for a simple bolt-on, especially at £198. I'd be keen to try it to pep up my 3.4 '97 Carrera 2.

not necessarily. I wanted to put one on mine but didn't get round to it, i had a CDA on one of my previous cars and it achieved +14bhp on a golf vr6 just from the air filter. I'd recommend it, plus it sounds awesome.

I didnt intend it to sound rude.
I like the system, it is amongst the best on the market but they dont give anywhere near what your told.
I would expect no more than 6hp on the 996 in all honesty.

Having said that, for the price its not too bad.

I'm interested to know why you'd only expect 6 bhp. The standard airbox is a fairly hefty piece of equipment and the CDA should allow the intake of air to be much quicker and cooler. I guess the only way to be sure is if we badger blease into buying one and then letting us have the rolling road report ;-)

The Factory has had some experience in induction technology, you know. One thing I have learnt from owning Porsches for a large number of years is that any standard induction system is generally the best for the job.Frig around and you will probably waste lots of dosh for not a lot.
Spend it on something worthwhile.

This is exactly the truth.
Ive owned and worked with rolling roads for 17 years and we have tested many hundreds of Porsches and many modified ones.
Im yet to see any significant (more than 10hp) gains from a filter kit.

I don't doubt the experience of the factory but its also true that the factory fit will have to be a compromise of performance against eu regs on noise etc. I am sceptical of 10-20 bhp, but would be happy with 5 plus a nicer sound. Anyone out here done this mod so we can have an objective answer?
