I think a solid G50 for 11-14k is a little ambious. I was the same 4 years ago but spent a few grand more and got something which would only go up in value. 11-14k for a G50 would mean you'll be spending on it.
I've just got a 993 and selling this:

Thanks for your reply.
Went to see one today, a 88 white one with 104k on the clock. The guy was looking for around 15k.
Few things i noticed wrong, c pillars starting to bubble, couple of bubbles under the front lights, interior was a bit tatty and there was a small oil leak.
The car has had a top end rebuild in the last 30k. If it wasnt for the c pillar rust and tatty inside then i might of gone for it, but decided to give it a miss.
I know i will have to make some compromises, im ok with small oil leaks etc... As long as the body is good and solid. Will just keep looking..
Regards,
Rob
GeoffB, will take a look on impactbumpers to see if anything around.
Beaky, thanks for your kind offer, im near Oxford so could be a bit of a trek. Any tips on getting a good one? Got the usual buyers guides etc...and can look in the obvious places for rust but i wondered if there are any other real nastys i should look out for.
Chrishak, you have mail.
Thanks,
Rob

IB's are mechanically very strong if maintained well, the condition of the body work and rust are the real issues.
The write ups should have covered these, but Inner sill, kidney bowls, base corners of the windscreen, around the headlights and battery well are the areas to focus on.
Mine has 110k on the clock and told still doesn't need the top end done (£3-4k job) and body work is solid, so they are out there, but you need to take your time, see as many as possible, there's lot of poor/average stuff around, the good ones do comand a premium
good luck
I guess i just wanted the later one with the g50 gearbox as it has a slightly newer feel, saying that though i am open to a 915 as well... Just as long as its a good car then im not that bothered.
I definatley want a 3.2 though.
There was a super sport widebody that appeared on pistonheads saturday, it sold within a few hours of going on... Market seems to be very buoyant, one guy said to me that the Auzzies seem to be buying alot because of the exchange rate..
Thanks,
Rob

No sign of any mail. If there's anything else you need to know regarding my own experience, just ask. I'm on the Dorset / Hampshire border and if you want to look at anything down this way I'd be happy to tag along with you.
