Hi,

Its come ot the time i need to replace the rear shocks on my 77 3.0 carrera has anyone got any experience on what to use as the manuals and shops all seem to quote different parts eg Koni Bilstein Avo. I am not too bothered about ride quality as i only use the car for weekend fun drives any info would be of a great help

I personally like the bilstein set up as what Tuthills call "sprint spec" (yellow bilsteins, part # ending 0975 at the rear, green bilsteins at the front).
The set up is easy if your car is a sport spec c3 with the green bilsteins on all four corners.

However, if yours is equipped with the black Boge struts, you can replace

>what is there, like for like

>or you could put the bilsteins at the back (green or yellow) and ideally put bilstein inserts in your front boge struts

>or you might even want to try rear Konis (nick Moss has loads of info on that IIRC)

Anyhow, it is all highly subjective as it depends on price, what is already equipped, personal preference etc.

New boges might be mightily fine and will do the job perfectly.

i will have a look,
has anyone got any experience with the avo units ?
they are a good bit cheaper and are used in loads of motor sport applications
22 point adjustable rears are 72 quid
