Carrera 4 help for newbie please

Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section but am clearly new to the site. :) (Hello by the way!) ;)
Anyway, I have decided that I want to treat myself once finishing my studies to be an accountant buy purchasing a 911.
The one I have set my sights on is a Carrera 4 from around 2004.

What I wondered is, can anyone give me an idea of the service costing for this kind of car? I have not owned a prestigeous marq like Porshe before so have nothing to base it against.
The MPG and insurance dont bother me as I currently run a very thirsty 280BHP Leon Cupra R so am used to 21MPG on good behaviour. It just concernes me what the servicing bills might be like?

PS: Im 24 years old, before anyone laughs at me owning a Leon Cupra R. hehe.
Insurance agreed that when I am 25 they will insure me on the Carrera, so I am just putting peices together now so I am fully informed.

Thank you for your help
Andy.

Welcome to the forum, you'll get lots of advice and references before you 'come of age' and buy your car.
Porsche dealers have a standard charge for servicing at the set intervals, and you can check them out on the official porsche site at http://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/porscheservice/servicepricing/
Alternatively, the independant Porsche specialists offer prices usually at a little cheaper hourly rates.
If you are looking at a 2004 car, you might want to put this posting onto the 996 register and get their experience. The 997 came onto the market late 2005 and from memory the C4 version was a little later.
The one bonus of the current cars is that service intervals are 2 years/20,000 miles. However, do factor in the cost of tyres, which can be a more regular purchase dependant on usage (but I guess you're used to chewing through front tyres on the Seat!).

that is brilliant, thank you for your help there.
I will post up on the 996 area to get their input, but thats a great start.
Again, many thanks.

PS: Yes the LCR loves destroying tyres. :(

Why a 4? Out of the Carrera range I bet there are fewer of these than any other?

I would look at an early 997 2S that has been well looked after and not worry about mileage - you will find a stunning car somewhere and there will deffinately be mre to choose from meaning you get some option around colour and spec - when you get to this point ask for more help as spec is important. BTW 4 and 4s is for girls!!! [:D]

While Darren does have a valid point going for an early 997 C2, you are thinking of a 996 Carrera 4. Having owned a 996 C2 3.4 followed by a 996 C4S 3.6 which shares the Turbo look with wide body and larger disc brakes, on the down side the ride is firmer than the 4.
Which ever model or colour you choose, do consider one equipped with Bi-Xenon head lights, they make all the difference, enough said !
