Carrera C2S 997 Gen 2 Rear Tyre size

PAG ZERO1

Hi Guy,
Has any fitted the larger rear tyre size on the C2S, I know the 305/30R/30R19 is standard on the C4S which has a slightly wider body at the rear, but reading the manual some C2S are fitted with the 305 vs 295. The 10mm difference on width would seem to easily fit on the C2S body as there seems plenty of room, I no this would just be cosmetic but would be interested in your comments and if anyone has fitted the larger tyre to a C2S ?

I have a 2007 model C2S fitted with the Carrera sports wheels. These are fitted with 305mm width tyres at the rear and I think it is only these wheels on this model that are fitted with this width tyre.

Morning!
While what Snarf says is correct, I've got 19" Carrera 'S' wheels on my '05 C2s and have run 305 tyres on the back for about 4 years with no problem. The Carrera Sport wheels are 11.5in wide whereas all other 19" rims for C2/4 and C2s/4s are 11", but all can take a 305 tyre at the rear without issue. (I think the Carrera Sport Wheels have a slightly different offset to give them the same look as if you fitted a 5mm spacer on standard 19" wheels)
I originally did mine because I couldn't find 295 PS2s for love nor money, and after discussing with my local (PCGB certified) tyre indy had the 305s fitted and frankly they look the business.

I will upload a chart of the wheel Sizes and offset information later today around lunchtime when I get chance.

Here is the wheel and tyre data for all 997's courtesy of the book "Porsche 997 The Essential Guide" by Adrian Streather. Its a 450+ page book of glorious 997 vehicle history and thoruoghly recommended and the best 42 quid I have spent in a long time from one of the online book stores.

Thanks Guy, I do in fact have the 19 inches Carrera sports wheels on my 2009 C2S, but the car is fitted with 295 on the rear so I just wanted to make sure that there wouldn't be a problem when I next change the tyres.

thanks again

regards

Pete

I've got the 19" SportClassic 'Fuchs' replica wheels on my 2007 911 997.1 C2S and these are fitted with 305 rear tyres. They do look very wide from the rear but not out of keeping with the wide rear track of the car, even without being the wider C4 body.

They offer good wheel rim protection as well...
