Following some adverts state side, and came across this;
http://www.sloancars.com/vs1/detail.asp?CarID=212
There are obviously some differences from ROW "Cup" cars on the spec mentioned.
None the less thought you would be interested.
Equates to £87k ish for a new "CUP" car + transporting it and registration over
here.
Who's tempted to trade their car for this?
The site has some other great low mileage Porsche's that are very rare and low miles.
Follows an article in Total 911, Feb 2006 on this guy.

It's an interesting proposition but from what I have read, the US Cup cars are more of a cross between a LHD Touring and a Ligfhtweight which were then converted by Andial with a kit of parts supplied by Porsche. This one would have things like door bars, sports seats (not buckets) 7.4 l washer bottle etc.

IMO you'd be better off with the 5,000 mile lightweight and spending the other £25k on women and beer[8D]

The ROW Market is awakening to the values of these cars as we have seen here with the Macro RHD market......in theory there will be greater Worldwide Demand and thus prices will equal UK RHD, will just take a little time....so those few LHD 964RS Lightweights which were knocking around the £40-£43K level over the last few weeks ove xmas MUST be a good solid buy, has Keith sold the Rubysrone Car (have steered a few enquiries that way) know Chris W car sold ...

As Stewart says, these were basically Euro RS shipped to the US with a kit of parts, to be fitted by Andial to convert them to basically the same spec as Euro RS cup cars. There's a website dedicated to them here - http://www.carreracupusa.org/ . Quite a few of the current owners are on Rennlist on the 964 forum.

I think there were 45 cars shipped, about 20 of which were converted before the series was cancelled. The car advertised is one of the unconverted ones.

That's what it looks like to me, but Porsche were not allowed to sell the RS in the USA. The race series, which was still born, did however recreate real Cup cars with very few differencs from the European series.

But no Matter roll cage ? How could this be fitted after the event ?

If an RS America, then yes it would be a stripped C2 designed to sell at a substantially discounted price to a standard C2.

And I thought you were an anorak!

Andial were suppose to convert the road legal C2s to cups but the series died.

They do not have RoW Cup VINs

Some converted to Cup spec by Andial and then converted back when the series died due no sponsorship. Numbers in the links above.

They have their own VIN numbers incl a plaque on the dash
.
