Carrera GT Ownership

I know there maybe not many of us about, but where on the forum can one find articles and discussion on the Carrera GT/S models - nothing has appeared in the last two Porsche Posts from the Register either..? Quite a lot is relevant on this car being a 924 at heart, plus it is celebrating it's silver jubilee year.
Anyone other interested parties / owners / future owners willing to comment?

Hello, you are quite welcome to discuss the 924 Carrera GT here.

The Secretary (Ricky Caesar) for the 924 CGT has not yet appointed anyone to start a new section on the forum, he is the person to speak to.

The 924 Register is unusual in several way. When I was Register Director I required Register Secretaries to put an article in at least every othe Porsche Post. There were 2 exeptions. One was Ricky Ceasar, he is in touch with all of his members regularly and in person. He can trace every 924 Carrera GT that entered this country from Porsche.

Ricky is a very aproachable person, give him a call his details are in Porschefile. Feel free to use my name.

By the way...Don't mention replica's.

Thanks for your comments - I appreciate Ricky is the man to talk to regarding the Register and the writer of the PP articles, but I was after communication with interested other parties - i.e. not utilising Ricky as a curious "middleman" for discussion; hence my enquiry about the forum utilisation, now offered above. I had just wondered if there was a sub-menu for the model I had not found.

Regarding replicas, some may believe that a replica is the greatest form of flattery OR a positive contribution and genuine enthusiasm for a model/marque by someone not blessed with sufficient funds for the original?

Yeah, sure etc. Just don't mention them to Ricky if you want him to help you....

937 Carrera...Judging from your web link you must be the chap I wrote to back in May enquiring after your LHD Belgian example ?! I hope you will still keep me in mind [;)].

It's quite a small register and not all members are 'online', including Ricky Caesar.

I'm sure there must be enough of us GT owners who check out the 924 forum now and again, so if you have anything in particular to discuss, you'll get a reply eventually!! [;)]

Thanks for your response and the knowledge there are other online members; there must be others too who prefer the modern quick and direct forum "e-communication", rather than wait on a telephone message being passed onto a potentially interested third party, by Ricky as a sort of "translator" for everybody - he must tire of this.

If it isn't it has been repainted.

The white car is indeed my replica, based on a Series 1 Turbo and, just in case anyone is going to launch into a frenzy of "replicas good thing / bad thing" etc. etc. (boring - everybody should drive what they like & not be worried about anyone else), it sits in my car collection next to a 944 and an ORIGINAL GT in Black [;)]
In true club spirit, I am happy to communicate and help anybody, replica or not.[:)]

I personally think the replicas are great PROVIDING THEY ARE NOT PASSED OFF AS ORIGINALS.

In my collection of motorcycles I have an Aermacchi racer that resembles an ala 'oro but is in fact a race kitted sports roadster. I always describe it as such. In fact I am proud of the conversion where as the genuine article would be 'something that I bought'.

There is a well known Porsche collector who owned a stable of exotic cars but had replicas made so that he could actually drive them.

What does set me off is the car described by it's owner as a 'Porsche 550' or Speedster that turns out the be a plastic VW.

A Zurcon will never be a diamond, but it can still be a pretty stone.

Hi guys - another GT owner here in the midst of a lengthy engine rebuild - just moved the car to my workshop in readiness to satrt the reinstatement - I'm also going to replace some more of the anciliaries than I planned because its taken longer to get the basic engine done. These include replacing the brake lines and hoses and clutch slave cylinder - and whilst about it I might see if I can get a set of braided hoses made up. Hopefully it will get back on the road in early 2007.
Regards
Dave

Hi. I also own a Carrera GT.
It would be very nice if other owners would make contact.

I am also another owner, logged back on after some while.

As said Ricky Caesar is the man and maybe he could be persuaded to get a meet set up now he is part of the committee.
