Carrera T what to look for

loving my spec. If I was buying again, this is what I'd be looking for ...

- manual !!! (no point if its not manual)
- rear wheel steer.
- yellow paint!
- T-interior pack (with contrast stitching etc).
- light weight bucket seats (makes it feel awesome! but it restricts access to the back.)
- no back seats (I don't have young kids)
- parking sensors
- alcantara wheel.

Two contentious ones:

- carbon-ceramic brakes ?? would be lovely to match the paint, and they save a ton of wight... but I've not had any trouble with the steel ones. If you are planning tuning or doing track days, PCCB is a good option to have.

- light-weight glass. You really should have this! ...except that it deletes the rear window heater. Hmmm. This is a tough one! I have privacy glass (normal weight) and the rear heater is almost constantly on. I'm not sure I could live without it.

Are you planning on tuning it? Apparently 450+ hp is easy... but voids the warranty...

Manual
Rear seat delete :)
light glass
Rear steer
rear park sensor

Don't seem to be many about and values look strong. May get a cat replacement pipe, not keen on ECU stuff!
Have you had any issues with yours?

Surely the only point of a T is to get a manual?
the rest you can add to a base carrera ( as I did) take it to Lichfield lovely people and get 500 bhp+ out of it
ok thinner noisier glass??

Thought this forum would be different to Pistenheads?

no problems apart from the water pipe leak (fortunately I took out the extended warranty). This seems to a fairly common problem, and the fix is to replace the original one with the redesigned item. If you are buying from a dealer, it might be worth asking them to do this: it might even be an official recall. I'll do a separate post about that!

Congratulations on your T.

I have had mine for 4 years today, happy birthday! It has nearly done 19k miles and I remain extremely pleased with it. Mine has been completely reliable. Just had major service, MOT and warranty renewal but hopefully, save for a couple of rear tyres at some point, there should be no major expenditure for the next 2 years now for me.

At the time I ordered mine (back in October 2017) I kind of felt that it would potentially be a last of the line sort of car and I guess I was right - the last ever narrow bodied 911! To me it strikes a great balance between the old and the new - enough tech to stream music, Google maps to get you home but analogue dials and buttons rather than touch screens...

I toyed with getting the Lichfield upgrade - such a bargain for the additional performance but, on balance, I am more than happy with the performance as it is for a road car - obviously it's fast, but it's not stupidly fast. A 430 mile round trip last week to help a pal pick up his new Spyder saw 35mpg which I think is remarkable.

There are a couple of Facebook groups - one UK based and one international that can sometimes be interesting. The Americans seem to love the T!

Enjoy.

thanks Rob. Yea, getting to grips with the car today. Really is a well engineered car for what it was designed. Right amount of power, can be driven hard and also cruise. My M Coupe was traded in for the T.
I've got a MAHA rolling road booked for a weeks time. Will see what the rough power these produce. I'll be happy with roughly 400 bhp.
May go for Litchfield sports CATs for a bit more sound and power..

Sounds like you have got some interesting plans. Let us know how you get on.

Hope you enjoy the car.

Yes - please do, would be interested to see how you get on. Another Club member picked up a white one locally yesterday and seems very pleased with it - perhaps these cars are finally starting to get a little more recognition!

They are indeed fun. I put some super unleaded in, as dealer put rubbish in. What a transformation. Instantly more responsive, louder, more aggressive exhaust tones..

Good call - save for the odd "emergency", mine has always had Shell's finest V-Power - or the rocket fuel they use at Oulton Park!

Just ordered some Soul link pipes..
Have a power run scheduled for April to see what stock is roughly pushing out. Will create a new thread for testing etc.

Hi Rob,

How do you find the standard brakes on track please (assuming you’ve not got PCCBs) are they OK do is fade a frequent issue? Thanks
