Hi Guys I currently have a Boxster which I adore, i am about to get a 996, as well as the Boxster, what is the difference between an s and a non s? also any tips?

The 'Carrera S' came in 997 form. In 996 guise it was just C4S, Carrera, or Carrera 4 (and the Anniversary models, turbo, Gt3 and GT2)

Sometimes in ads you will see a car advertised as Carrera Tip S, leading you to believe it's an 'S'.

Have a look at our buyer's guide for what to look for in terms of faults

And for the different models and variants guide here:-

Good luck!

Im pretty sure there is no Carrera S in the 996. The 'S' models in the 997 have the 3.8 engine as opposed to the 3.6

Rodney beat me to it
