Of course they can be removed.... it is vinyl on top of the paintwork. It is a bit of a fiddly job, heating up the graphics (e.g. with a hairdryer) and slowly easing them off, ensuring that you do not damage the paintwork.

Anyhow, the last "genuine" carrera to legitimily carrying the Carrera sidescript graphics was the Carrera 3.o, as the name "carrera" was indicative of the fastest normally aspirated road going Porsche. The "carrera" monniker was just a brand name with the 3.2. In summary, whatever Carrera came after 1977 were just marketing fakers[;)][:D]

best regards,

Bert

As the name came from the Carrera Panamerica race as far as I know, I suppose you could claim that any road car using the name was using it as a brand name to sell cars [:)]

Well, its more subtle than what you say.

Yes, the name is derived from the road race Carrera Panamericana. However, all the Carrera models were elegible in the GT class (but happen to also be road legal.)

The last such car was the impact bumper Carrera 2.7, in fact they produced it in Germany and Switserland until december 1976 with an MFI engine in order to keep the MFI specced cars elegible and homologated for hillclimbs etc.

All other carrera's that followed were road cars, that were not eligible for racing without substantial modifications.

HTH,

Bert
