Buying 4 wheels and tyres for the Boxster anyone know of a good carrier who would pick them up in Southhampton and deliver to Glasgow and approx cost ..or could some one give me an idea as to the weight of a 17" alloy and tyre front and rear

Here's a start - http://www.wheelcourier.com/book.html - £34.95 for 4 wheels and tyres up to 17" diameter.

The weight of the wheel is going to depend on what style the wheel is - probably anywhere from 9 to 12 kilos at a guess. The tyre, again, will depend on make and size - maybe 8 - 10 kilos at a guess. The courier I linked to above seems not to go by weight - just wheel size. No affiliation by the way - just a successful eBay search!!

I contacted them before and they quoted £46 despite there rate showing £35 I emailed them to ask for a new QT as I wished another item added still waiting ...I have contacted a local company and they will do the complete deal for £40 inc insurance so they are getting the business, thanks for taking the time to search information out.

Boxster SII's including tyres weigh 17kg front and 19kg rear.

The price you quoted sounds reasonable to me I paid £75 IIRC recently to a local company to deliver a set.

Just tried 2 carriers Parcel2go.com and http://www.wheelcourier.com/book.html to deliver 2 18'' tyres (no wheels) from the south Coast to London (46cmx46cmx60cm -18kg)

Wheelcourier wanted £24.95 for 1-2 working day delivery (they would have included alloys as well as it's size based)
Parcel2go.com for premium next day delivery charged £26.96 (including a £10 surcharge for 'high fuel prices') which includes £50 free insurance.

I went with Parcel2go.com.

This thread has been very helpful thanks for the tips
