hi all

had a call from my insurance broker today-i sent back my insurance proposal because i noticed he had classed my car as manual but it is pdk-avia said it is classed as a automatic which is £103 more to pay-but my broker said than when he checked the class of vechile it came up as manual-the insurance company said it cost more to replace pdk gearbox-so if anyone has pdk check your insurance as it might quote your car as manual-could that void your insurance

So if you tell your insurance company you have a PDK gearbox and they mistakenly class it as a manual or maybe as its a double clutch gearbox class it correctly..... its your problem in the event of a claim. How can this be right... Oh yes sorry, its insurance. A contract of good faith in that you pay them and they never pay you!

More seriously though. Is PDK an Auto box or a computer controlled Manual box? Auto boxes do not usually have clutches?

My insurance classes it as an auto too. I reckon they are having difficulty getting to grips with the end of tip?[;)]

Guys even all the years I had Ferrari's with F1 box the insurers called it an auto, it seems that unless you have a clutch peddle they consider it an auto, in one way i can see what they are sating.
