Hi guys,
I've just got a cassette box /arm rest (with good hinges!) ,but am not sure how it should be fitted.
Do they have captive / welded nuts on the tunnel or do I need to drill and use self tappers?
I dont want to take the carpet up!
Thanks
Mike

That's the cassette box,the plastic seam you see is the hinge (which eventually breaks) and the release is the oblong button on the dirivers side, not the best of designs, at the price these cars were it could have had a bit of quality built in,hope this helps John.

.....and if the hinge ever does break they are around a tenner for a new one from Porsche.

With the lid open you can slide out the individual cassette holders and you have a really useful storage cubby

Box fitted no problem.
Push the button on the top section drivers side and lift.
I paid a tenner for a complete box in brown, very comfy armrest, an storage for charger, blue tooth headset an sunglasses,
without having to lean all the way to the glovebox. also as its shallow all the contents can be easily seen.

on my S2 I have what looks to be just an arm rest, if there was ever such a thing? It seems to have a rectangular push button on the side of it but I have never tried to open it up. Are these things hinged? if so, I cant see a proper piano lid hinge, all I see is a plastic seam on the hinged side. I think I best just leave it as an arm rest..

Open it up Scotty.................I dare you. Thats the most extreme case of keeping something original I`ve heard - not using it [8|]

Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on..............you know you want to.

Tell us whats in it. An old mould encrusted sarnie? Small change? Used chewing gum? An old tax disc? Pen thats leaked? Original bill of sale? [;)]

I personally loved the way the arm rest was just that, perfectly placed at the right height, perfick [:)]

Love the thoughts Paul, could be storing a winning lottery ticket - not a lot of use now though!
Think we should demand to know!
