Excellent day at Castle Combe. I was a little late getting there (14:00!), but still managed 3 sessions in the afternoon. Great weather and Combe now has a proper pit wall! Also the restaurant has been completely refurbished.
Rick took loads of pictures (www.cannell.co.uk) and there were some very interesting cars there. As it was a Boxster day, the cars were mainly Boxsters (all models from 2.5 through to latest shape 3.2s). However, there were also a few 993 models, 964RS, 997 GT3 (2 I think), Cayman and the Supercharged 968 (9M car) with 430bhp! (according to the owner who has just removed the cat and power tested again at 9M's dyno). I think I was the only 944 taking to the track.
All in all, a great day!

Andrew

I keep meaning to ring Andy and book my car in for a check on the KW etc but I`ve shattered my thumb and I`m not supposed to drive for a few weeks [&:]
The 944 is still in the garage covered in flies and dust from the R24 WOTY
Was the 9M 968 any quicker than at Bedford as I went past it twice and when pressuring it for the third time we both span [8D]
I dont think it was set up very well to be honest and the driver wasnt that confident??

[FONT=arial"]The 968 S/C Appeared to have two different drivers - it was lapping at similar times to my car (about 1m: 20secs) and had a similar top speed at the speed trap (just before Avon Rise).

It is two drivers, both Region 21 karters and both pretty quick. One holds the Kings Cross Raceway lap record, against quite a few well known drivers.....[&:]
I'm surprised that the car hasn't been quicker. There was a rumour that 9M wound the car down for reliability purposes, which could explain it's lack of pace at Bedford?

Interesting - it was definitely being driven more assertively at Castle Combe. Fantastic noise from the car too! One of the drivers came with me as a passenger - he was ideal Karting weight (76kgs - yes, I did ask as a heavy passenger can cost 2 secs a lap[]).
Looking forward to the Snetterton evening now in June.

Andrew
