I have an '86 Swiss spec. cab - 930/26 engine, specially introduced for the Swiss market in 1985 - differs from conventional 930/20 by having an Air Pump blowing into exaust ports (as on the earlier 911 sc models) - no difference in power/torque. Mine does not have a cat. Various pics.of mine in Tony's book (p14&17)
Cheers

What about sticking yours on a dyno and seeing what it is running at? At least then you will have a baseline one way or t'other. Worth doing before you start playing IMO. Subsequent visits to the rolling road usually bring good news that way too [

However, it would not surprise me if later Swiss cars did have the Type 25 engines fitted - with lower compression - it wouldn't be the first time, Porsche used up bits from the parts bin. They may well have been badged Type 26.
Can I ask for Swiss Carrera owners to let me have chassis and engine numbers please, together with engine code - there does seem to be a trend here for later Swiss cars to be running low compression engines?
This may be yet another Carrera secret ready to be revealed.
Please contact me off-line with above info (don't put chassis No's. on this forum).

I think it must be the lower compression engine as there is no air pump on my engine which i presume is the belt driven unit on the left hand side as per my old Swiss SC.
I have a LHD 3.2 manufactured December 88 with a cat. engine type 930/25. It was originally registered for the Gareman market by the factory, they kept it and serviced it for 2 years. The power is indeed 217 bhp and compression 9.5 so you can use unleaded 95 octane. According to the handbook there is little difference cat or not, this according to the factory. Anyway, last September I had to change the cat (no longer ok unfortunately). They were several options so I went to an independent Porsche garage and had a sport cat fitted. In theory that should give me 231 bhp+ according to them. After having driven the car for quite a few months and miles, I do notice the difference, the car is very livelyl, and the noise ... just great. I have also fitted a K and N filter.
Unfortunately this dealer is south of Valencia in Spain, sorry.
Good luck

Like salva I too have a German spec 3.2 MY 1989 with a 930/25 9.5:1 CR engine running on 95 RON. I replaced the cat this spring at JAZ with a Dansk pre-muffler and combined it with a Steve Wong U.S. spec chip. Two days later I took it to Weltmeister at Silverstone for a dyno run. Result: 247 bhp (for the doubting Thomases among you the dyno plots can be seen on Steve Wong's site www.911chips.com under dyno runs, next to Ian Highfield's). Unfortunately, I didn't carry out a pre-change dyno run to establish a baseline. The factory quotes 217 DIN hp for this engine but I suspect they tend to be conservative. My engine had covered 60,000 miles and I am the fifth owner. It would appear the new chip makes the difference. I will be adding a single in/out sports exhaust this spring (probably one of Ben's M&K s/s jobbies) and will re-dyno at Weltmeister to see if improves on the 247 bhp. I'll keep you posted.
