Maybe worth ringing round a few other specialist Porsche engineers?

They may have seen the issue before.

Also try the Boxster helpline - Steve Winter at JAZ Porsche - jazweb.co.uk

I need to replace the right Cat convertor on my 2002 Boxster and the garage has said there are no after market parts, which seems insane. The part number they gave me only comes up with American distributors at $1,300 each. I've had a look on after market sites and put in the car details and can find a part, not with the same reference the garage gave, but surely its possible to get an aftermarket cat for a 2002, 2.7, 22obhp Boxster. Any help or guidance. Cheers

Great thanks. Ive had a look and there does seem to be a range of Cat convertors for the same year, which makes more sense. Denis

Hi. In short, engine check light came on on my 2004 s,took my car to my local garage, outcome the right cat was the problem. The advice l was given if one has gone change both . Phoned Porsche Hull £3800 to supply and fit. I went onto Design911 and they said no problem £600 including vat, nuts, bolts, clamps and gaskets. Local garage fitted £200 , well pleased, saved best part of £3000.

I’ve just order both cat converters from design911, everyone is saying to replace both so no idea why the garage only suggested one. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
