CATS, HOW TO TAKE THE BITE OUT OF...

GAFTON

New member
It seems that the cats on my car (95 GTS) have started to break up internally and while they do not need immediate replacement the car may fail its next MOT (or so I am told). The Porsche replacement is just a touch on the expensive side. What else can one go for? I would prefer to keep the exhaust music level and the cost low. Any and all thoughts/suggestions/ideas would be most gratefully welcomed!

I couldnt wait to read this thread as I expecting to see advice on how to keep cats off your car :( Our Ginger Tom does like to make his mark on our roof/bonnet esp in the Summer.

Hi Gene :)

UMMM ....WHO precisely told you they were breaking up lol ....SUPERMAN ???

To know that you would need X-RAY vision.....the ONLY way to know cats are failing is if you stick an exhaust gas analyser in the exhaust (the 4 gas type) and it fails...

Can I take an educated guess who told you ??? The Opc ?????? :) :) :)

If you really want to find out.....pop into ANY local garage (NOT the OPC) and ask them to quickly test your emissions.....they should charge you around a tenner....and then you will KNOW ...

Oh and....cats either WORK (pass emissions) or DONT WORK (fail emissions) there is no half way ..or failing....

All the best Brett :)
