[:(]A report on the Pistonheads site, 3rd of March, rumours a Cayenne V6 Diesel arriving in 2009, as the Hybrid has been put back to 2010. Fact or Fiction?

It is rumoured to be a reworked version of Audi's 3.0 TDi unit and may possibly feature twin turbo charging like BMW's 3.0 Sd engine.

Why not?

It already exist to all intents and purposes as a VW!

If others can encroach on Porsche's market why cant Porsche spread its wings?

Personally I don't have any issues with Porsche introducing diesels in models like the Cayenne and Panamera. BMW have proven that diesels can be tuned to give equivalent and sometimes better performance than petrol equivalents and Audi are following suit. Hybrids are hardly in the Porsche sporting tradition but times move on and Porsche have to look at other powerplants in an effort to bring their average CO2 emissions down. A few years ago diesel engined coupes were heresy on BMW forums but look at the range now offered by BMW and their rising popularity. The twin turbo 3.0 engine in the 335d and 635d is astonishing. I was at Geneva on Friday and had a look around the new diesel Audi TT, another variant that would have been unthinkable to petrolheads a few years ago.

[:D] I don't have an issue either and I'm sure that in typical Porsche style it'll be extremely good. Although I can't comment about the Audi or 635d I do know from experience how good the 335d is ........ so bring it on!!!
