Cayenne elec issues

Just picked up our first Cayenne (thanks for the advice from the contributors in the other thread) and have a few issues, nothing major thankfully. Car had pretty much a FSH and purchased from an indie but they kidly took it to Porsche Sheffield who did a major service at my expense before I collected so am confident the car is pretty decent as OPC didnt present me with a list of issues.... as expected.

2005 Turbo with 90k on.

I have some random electrical issues namely bulb failure warnings on the dash. NSF main, OSF indicator, reversing and I think a stop light.....

I have checked and the OSF Main and NSF were not working as indicated (so NOT a dash fault) and when tapping on the lens they worked. Sometimes they work sometimes they don't. Sometimes I might get one or two warning lights. Next journey none.

I appreciate connections may come loose or dirty and removing the lens / connection, cleaning and re-seating may help but just wondering if all of these issues are connected somehow as it seems a little strange to me.

Thanks in advance,

Rob

I think have either seen these or read of them before... but basically I would run through the items you mentioned around the bulbs and how they are sitting etc.
It just takes one bulb to be twisted into the holder incorrectly to cause these.
I think I may have seen an indicator bulb cause similar symptoms to yours and it was just a matter of taking time to review it and make sure it was installed properly.
As you said, check the connector to the whole tray also and perhaps plug in directly to the light cluster for troubleshooting purposes if needed.

For the headlight cluster you may find that the unit isn't locked in correctly, quite common.

The rear light fittings are prone to corrosion, as is the side indicator repeater so pop the rear units out and look (it will be obvious if they are).

I had the same with mine.
Bulb failed warnings on the dash, more prevalent in the wet and it was usually the O/S indicator bulb. Sometimes the bulb was not working, sometimes it was working fine.
Seemed to be the connection to the O/S front light cluster. Removing the light unit and slamming it back in used to fix it. It happened so often that I kept the head light removal tool in the glove box.
OPC adjusted the rails, that worked for a short time but it came back just as bad. Later my local independent made some adjustments. The fault became less apparent but never went away.
Hope that gives some clues.

James, Nick & Peter - many thanks for the update.

Glad to hear its unlikely to be a deeper issue and a DIY job.

All the best,

Rob

Hi Everyone,

I have had my 2005 turbo for a year now and the only issue I have had is dead battery. I still can't get over the performance of these cars. I always have a big smile on my face when I give it the full beans !

However, the car seems to have developed an A/C problem. The air coming out of the vents on the passenger side is cold, whereas the drivers side is nice and warm.

Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated ?

Paul

OK, I cleaned all the contacts on the various light clusters and replaced a couple of bulbs. NS Reverse wasnt working and and OS Stop intermittent.

The OSF indicator is still intermittently not working. I tried cleaning the connection on the bulb itself and contact. Still intermittent so put a new bulb in and still the same. I suppose the next thing is cleaning each connector in the multiplug but I would be surprised if thats the case - any other ideas.

BONUS - just found out the steering wheel is heated.... RESULT!!!!
