I would like to upgrade but not before a facelift.
Out of curiosity what is the upgrade path to a Cayenne?

Does any one know if there is a Cayenne facelift coming in the near future?
No, but boy oh boy does it need one.
Besides, a Porsche 'facelift' is likely to be barely detectable. Even 'new' models (986>987 and 996>997) are very subtle.
If the looks are a concern, the X5 and forthcoming new ML are prettier alternatives.

Anyone with a 4x4 that previously had to buy outside the marque, I guess
And was prodding the pavement with a white stick?

It's a great car and handles fantastically. No white sticks needed.
Yes I know, I've ridden shotgun in a Turbo as well as going around the dry circuit at Gaydon.
But it will never win a beauty contest!

And thats important in a 4x4?
Well to be honest from what I've experienced it's pretty crap as an off-roader so I guess that's more important if you bought one for it's 4x4 capabilities

You can't have experienced very much then"¦ Its well proven off road and can hold its own against the best of them including the Range Rover (if fitted with the active suspension). I suggest you read a bit more before you post.it's pretty crap
PS The RR would have the Cayenne for breakfast on a demanding off-road course, even on decent M&S tyres.

( & I spend a lot of time looking at 4x4's because I work in farming [8|][])
I would love to take one 'real world' offroading (as in not designed 4x4 courses or extreme offroading, but everyday UK farming conditions) to see how it performs.

As I said I was in one going around the "dry track" at Gaydon and it got stuck twice and smashed the undertray on a rock.
I like to experience things first hand rather than read about them but thanks for the suggestion.

JCB - you trying to wind us kn boys up on here? You didn't respond to my comment about the mantelpiece! Or another one;- you drive the damn thing, not make love to it.
And, all I know about the Boxster in the snow is that I took mine out the other day in half an inch of the stuff and it refused at the first fence. KN on the other hand didn't even notice. Both have their place in my garage and rightly so.

Yes and succeeding it some places it would seem. I think the KN is a marvelous piece of engineering and electronics and I was amazed the way the Turbo performed when Dave Fagan threw it around the roads when we visited the Amsterdam PC in 2003.
I just don't think it's that pretty or that good an off-roader.

Interesting comment from a colleague today, totally unprompted, 'you know I've really grown to like the look of the Cayenne, it's got real presence, think it makes the X5 look very dated now'.
I've always felt the Cayenne was a brave design, and improves with familiarity. In comparison with the competition it's forward looking. Take a look at the new Disco - now there's a brick if ever I saw one.
Now with 22k on the clock, can say with confidence that it is a great vehicle, and complements the 997S in the drive. And yes, it gets used in real world off-roading, used for shoots over farmland and woodland, and we also live at the top of steep hill that never gets salted by the local authority in inclement weather. The Cayenne holds it's own against the RR a friend has. As for the test track, it performed faultlessly at Chobham recently as well.
So yes, I'm a fan.

Just to let you know, at that time Renault Avantime was in my garage.
Today, I own Cayenne. It is CTT and I just love it. Some of you will said that I'm mad about ugly cars, but I just freakin love it.
And also don't think it needs any changes.
I took at look at the link, as you say just tweaking the design a little. I thought as the new 997 and boxters had revamped the headlights that the Cayenne was likely to follow before very long. The hybrid sounds interesting but I personally would like more then the 270bhp on offer. What a dilemma, do I wait for a facelifted 300 + bhpORIGINAL: mfoggin
found this on the autocar website not sure how old it is, but it looks like they are probably going to tweak the design which is a bit of a pain as mine is due for delivery in March. Also news on the hybrid engine was on the site.
