has anybody put there cayenne on lpg 4.5 v8 model?

the reason i ask is that i thought it would be a good idea dropped my car off at a lpg fitting centre went to pick it up a week later and its not quite right on the gas,
the guy is trying to sort it but i just thought i would ask around to see if anyone else has had it done.

thanks

Although i haven't I was considering doing this conversion. If you dont mind me asking what was the cost and did you have the tank in the wheel well? Be interesting to see when its sorted if there is any noticeable performance difference..

hi there the guy charged me £1750 all in but i went for a tank in the boot bit of a pain but when i get it boxed in it should look ok however i still have not got my car back yet 4 weeks later for gods sake if you do get it done make sure the company has done a cayenne v8 before

Blimey 4 weeks jeez! hope you get it back and sorted soon mate.

Be interesting to hear how it performs and if you pleased with it when its sorted.

Where abouts is the company, sound like they'll have plenty of experience in fitting these to Cayennes once their finished on yours[:-]

[:D] I had my previous Jeep 4.7 Grand Cherokee done by the Greenfuel company just outside Bath, cost £2300, did a great job, took a week, saved me fortune in fuel after. They had done a Cayenne S at that time (March 2006), with no issues. They quoted the same price for my Cayenne 3.2, although I didn't get it done (Warranty issue). The grant is no longer available.

All the best.

Slight change of tack here, but if I can ask that as you have a 3.2 V6 (same as me) what is your mpg. I was told be a few and the dealer that it would average low 20's round town.. but cannt even get this on the motorway!

The average according to the trip comp is 17.4mpg and thats a mix of town / motorway is this right or should I be getting it back to the dealer?? .... according to other posts this is turbo mpg!
Thanks

19.5 mpg on the Trip (BP Ulimate).. M4 commuter (J10 to Brentford / Hammersmith), weekend shopping lugger .. dont hang around but dont treat it like a sportscar either (thats what the Boxster is for)

Have seen 22 mpg on it on a 70 MPH cruise up to the Lakes

Looks like I'm not that far out then...I've got a trip to N'hampton at the w/e so lets see if I can get it up near the 20's...[8|] thanks

I've got a brand new V6 on loan this week and, whilst it is an improvement over the previous model, it is still too big and ugly.

Fuel consumption in normal use is around 19mpg compared with 28 mpg, under the same conditions, in our X5 3.0d sport.

LPG conversion may have its merits in the S or Turbo - be interested to know how it works out.

My V8 does 19mpg around town, 22-23mpg Mway at 75mph and 25 mpg at 50mph A road this is on shell V-Power[;)] I do not think there is much difference between the V6 - V8 fuel wise. The fuel mpg do alter using just unleaded and if you drive it hard.

My V8 gives around 20 whatever conditions and whateve petrol I use .There is not the slightest difference between normal unleaded and the super stuff.

Sounds like I'm suffering economy and not even getting V8 performance []..... starting to think I need to swop[8|]

[:D]See thread on Remap ECU ..... might do both things, improve performance and consumption and save you a bundle in the process!!!

Yip its booked in for the 17th for remap [;)] so lets see... ... my recent trip to Northampton from a full tank and reset of the trip gave 20.5 mpg. Considering that it was some motorway and A roads and I drove like a wuss.....very very carefully not exceeding the speed limit with no harsh acceleration, thought that I would have got a bit more. Even just 2 or3 extra mpg would have made me smile

Hi, so what mpg is anyone getting on LPG?
Ta, Sue

I believe it will be about 15mpg as a direct conversion from my investigation... however as its less that 1/2 the price of petrol, if you were still paying £1.03 its like getting 35mpg ish. approx.

But you do have to factor in the cost of the conversion and the inconvienience of that huge tank behind the back seats, and that you can not go on the Euro tunnel with LPG (thats if you do?).

I worked it out that the cost of the conversion alone is 2 years worth of normal £1.03 fuel for me plus the cost of the LPG for the same miles and as I dont tend to keep cars more than that its not an economical exercise for me.... But if you hang on to it for some time yes it will pay for itself.

Best option is to buy one thats already converted IMO.
