Hi, I have a 06 Cayenne 4,5s which I love even though it's getting a little old now but last year the PCM2 stopped working after a few weeks of coming on when it wanted and black lines. In the end it stopped. Any ideas? I've checked the leads/fuses all good. It's the bose optic lead version. Am I better of with an after market head especially as the existing is a bit of a dinosaur?! If so any head recommendations and is it just a straight swap?

TIA Mark.

Mark,
Don't know what you did as post is quite old now. I have same problem on my 55 reg "S" and tried second hand eBay unit but didn't solve problem. There are some websites that offer to repair but I think I'm going for a new, modern head unit. I have seen older posts on this being successful, but probably need to spend in order of £700 to get a decent unit.

Hi, just joined the club as purchased a Cayenne, got an issue with the old PCM2 unit and would like to replace it,(probably with an after market unit) as want Bluetooth for phone to download phone book and touch screen Nav with post code.
Anybody done this recently? Would value some advice as to the best replacement unit to use?

when I had my 987 boxster ,there was no nav in there ,I fitted a pioneer avic d3 that was back in 2009,june 2016 I bought a 981 with nav ,I took the old pioneer unit out of the 987,when I sold it ,I did put it up for sale on the for sale section of the club web site about 6 months ago for about £400(it was £1200 new)it also had Bluetooth adaptor ,usb adaptor, ipod adapator, and reversing camera.as nobody wanted it 2-3 weeks ago I decided to fit it into my 2013 focus ,I had to buy a dash adaptor fitting kit which also had all the wiring and can bus adaptor, steering wheel button adaptor with it , the kit was £150, I got the kit from connects 2 https://www.connects2.co.uk/ as I work in vehicle /engine/dyno electrics for ford and jaguar.it was easy to fit,the kit was all on plugs anyway.i just run a few wires into rear hatch for rear camera.one word of advice is I would stick to ,pioneer, alpine or kenwood head units, and avoid the Chinese stuff on e bay etc as a few of my mates have bought these and they are junk (software problems and not built to last) you can get a good pioneer nav unit with apple play on it for £700-£900.if you have the bose amps on the cayenne you will need more adaptors to connect to this (fibre optic?) otherwise its a case of running wires from new head unit to speakers(new speakers will have to be put in as bose speakers have lower impedance 3 ohm I think after market is 4 ohm) hth.
