Cayenne servicing

I have just changed my BMW X5 for a Cayenne S.
I was not very happy with the service I received from the BMW agents so I thought I would give Porsche a go.
So far I am a bit disappointed. Would welcome your comments

I haven't got my cayenne yet, but i've had a boxster for over three years and found the service department very good in the OPC i use.
i have found that the service in both the sales and service departments seems to vary between OPC, what didn't you like?

PS we now (as of tuesday 2 march) have a cayenne area on the forum[:)]

Brian,

Did you use Chapelgate for your service ?

It does differ I am afraid between OPC's, however Chapelgate do come top of all the OPC polls.

Brian ... Servicing is going to vary from dealer to dealer, but one thing that won't vary so much is your personal view on the X5 v "S" So far which one gets your vote as the best 4x4xfar and why [;)]

Hello
I ordered a caravan towing hitch with for the Cayenne and was told it would be fitted and wired at the factory. I collected the car from Leipzig and returned it to Chapelgate Porsche to have the number plates fitted etc. It was with the dealer for 4 days. I asked them to check the wiring to see if it was okay. I was asssured that it was in order. When I returned home, I connected to the caravan and No 12v supply. I checked the contact with an Avo and no supply present. It was returned back to the dealer and it was rewired. When I again returned with the car I could not plug in the connector. I then removed the connector myself and refitted. I aslo asked them to look at a 'scuff' mark on the fron fender and this also wasnot attended to. With my BMW it was always returned to me washed and inside cleaned. Not done!
Not impressed to say the least.

Maybe I will have to revert back to BMW on my next purchase.
Kind regards

Is this the retractable towball?
That looks a great idea!

Unlike OPC's NOT to wash a car - I usualy have to insist that they don't!

You must tell us how the Factory Collection went? I've not heard what happens when you pick up from Leipzig (although I have visited on the Club tour last year). The Stuttgart Factory Collection we did in 2001 was wonderful! I wanted to do it again a couple of months later! (Kind of addictive!)

Please let the OPC know you are not happy - from recent experience with another OPC I can say that they would prefer to know where they need to improve.

Hello Daro
Yes I think the Porsche has the edge on the BMWX5. The Nav system is far superior to the Beemer. The level of customer care is better at BMW so far, as the car was always washed when it was returned. I have several friends with less expensive cars and their cars are always returned washed and cleaned.
I think it is the policy at BMW to clean cars after work has been carried out.
I was in Switzerland last year with theBMW and I had a small fault with the air conditioning, It was only in the service bay for about 45 mins, we were supplied with coffee and biscuits whilst we waited and the car was washed and cleaned!! Good service, perhaps we should learn some lesson from the Swiss!
Kind regards
Brian

Yep
The collection was brilliant and the offroad fab. Try climbing the 60 degree climb in the car!!wow when you hit the bottom of the hill it looks as though one is about to take off. It was great, no trouble with the climb and on the downhill as well. The factory did really look after us, had a jolly good nosh as well. Hotel excellent. We went in January and had to drive back in the snow (800 miles ish)but with the Cayenne no prob. The only from I had the snow kept balanking off the parking sensors which was a bit allarming until I found out what was going on as it throws up and alarm each time.
Hope you enjoy the visit.

Was it a recent service at chapelgate, drove past today and half of it is missing - so I think they would be struggling slightly, Its part of the update to the latest look but there is a steel girder framework where the showroom used to be - I guess before they got to this stage they would of had to clear out a lot of the backroom areas which may well have affected the quality of service.
No real excuse but it might explain it.

I was disappointed to read your thoughts towards the after sales experience you have so far witnessed with Porsche. I guess like so many things in life now we expect a good, if not excellent level of service but it so rarely transpires. My views are, I judge the organisation on how they put their problems right, and I would be even more disappointed on your behalf if Chapelgate try to further walk away from this adverse bit of customer satisfaction. Good luck with it and if it helps I can thoroughly recommend Dick Lovett Swindon OPC for their after sales care,

Regards
