Cayenne Thoughts!

I proudly announce that another Alderman is due in 9 months and with this I am having Cayenne thoughts. I notice though that there do not seem to be any active in R11 that I am aware of, correct me if I am wrong. If I am not worng is this because the car is snubbed by enthusiasts? Discuss??

I don't really want to get rid of the Boxster, in fact I have just submitted a letter of interest abouth the facelift car due next summer. I start an office job in Harlow on 1st October so a perfect opportunity to use it then.

any idea what the real mpg figures are for the 3.2v6 cayenne and the cayenne s?? the missus wants one and im really not sure

Depends on whether you are going for a 2007 facelift model or not, these are more powerfull and have better fuel consupmtion as Porsche introduced DFI direct fuel injection on these models. Combined figure is 21.9mpg for V6. Go for am auto with sat nav as bare minimum, 2007 ex-demo facelifts are just over 40k at the moment.

Shop around for fuel discounts can be had, for instance if you get an asda credit card and get asda fuel on it you get 2ppl off.

Also shell are doing a credit card, get your fuel at shell and get 6ppl off for 60 days then 3ppl after that for life! plus 2% off purchases for 60 days then 1%

I also use petrolprices.com to shop around.

If you are not loyal to the brand like me there are some massive discounts on brand new touregs at the moment, see top gear mag last month or www.motopoint.co.uk they have 8k off at ÂŁ24k!!!!!!!! with del miles!!

have to say i think the touregs are shocking looking things which i guess is why they are cheap......service costs just as high with a cayenne as my 997s??

Had loads of 4x4's!! Then had a Cayenne S for the weekend! Its the absolute dogs "bxxxocks" with sports exhausts! Just managed 19mpg for most journeys with occasional 23mpg driving like a girl! Also depreciation is huge. Even an OPC dealer quoted me a loss of 65% in three years from new! Great drive though!
My next family car is going to be a RangeRover Sport V8 diesel.

depreciation on cayennes i always thought was big which is why i thought about a 2 yr old 3.2 v6.......i do like the range rover sports although i wud probably go for the diesel...why u sell the 997c2s? i love mine..its 3yrs old next month and only done 15k...in artic and black leather...its the nuts

Yea but the Touareg has genuine off-road capability with high and low ratio gearboxes etc.

I've driven one both on the track and off-road, although not at the same time, and found them pretty impressive.

I had the smaller engined version for 12 months but try the 3 litre or 5 litre diesels before you discount them!

I have trialled 4x4's competitively and competed in Comp Safaris with a 500bhp Bowler until my back went so I know what 4x4's can really do! However other than dragging a caravan up a grassy bank when would any normal person experience the extremes of what these cars can do! The Cayenne S is a fantastic drive but I wouldn't buy the V6.

I sold the C2S because I got bored! I had it for two years and loved it but I started to miss all the bad things I loved about 911's, sad I know! So 996 turbo appeared on the drive, surprisingly it was the day I test drove the new Cayenne Turbo! It is and feels very much faster than my C2S![:D] Its also blxxdy uncomfortable, jiggles around like a go cart and my 6 year old complains about the heat coming through the rear seats!. I can just about manage to sit in the thing for the length of time it takes to empty a full tank of Super normally about 2 hours when in France, heheheheh!![:D] Then I need a coffee to dull the pain in the knee! My wife uses it most days as a run around and we have done 12,000 miles since March! Buy one they are fantastic!!!!!! [:D][;)]

I would go for the V6 but would make sure it was a 2007 as these have a little more poke and better fuel consumption. I think the prior model a little too slow and juicy and ugly. In any respect I have decided probably not to do the KN thing as no-one seems keen on them and I have recently changed to an office job so am driving my 05 987 more and fell back in love with it. Luckily the office is local so milleage is low. Previous usage was very low as I had co car. I think I will go for the 2008 2.7 boxster and change the other car for something bigger more practical for the family. Thoughts are Quashquai or Ceed (Diesel) at momemt. Has anyone got a ceed and done some miles in it?? Reports of previuos kias like the sedona old model and picanto have been they all fall apart and go wrong. I am hoping the ceed/newer models are better designed and built.

Over the years I have had quite a few 4x4s including a Series 11A Land Rover, a Range Rover,a Mitsubishi Shogun, a Toyota Landcruiser Amazon, a Mercedes ML(old Shape) a Mercedes ML New shape and a Cayenne S.

Of them all the Range Rovers proved the most troublesome with constant faults rattles and poor build quality. The Japenese models were virtually trouble free and the Landcruiser was a wonderfull car and so capable but hugely boring.
The Mercedes were also boring with plenty of faults and high depreciation. The Cayenne has been faultless over the past two years and I enjoy driving it. The depreciation on all 4x4s is high at the moment due to green issues and tax,but the Cayenne is no worse than the others.

Do I like the Cayenne? Now I have got used to it's ugly mug, Yes.

Would I buy another ? Yes. Deposit paid for a GTS.

Our Daughter also has a Cayenne and apart from the tailgate closer needing adjustment she loves it too. She has done 25,000 miles in 2 years and she wants another one too.

thank you very much for this concise account of what i should buy....the cayenne i think your right is in fact the way forward......3.2 v6 is the one for me to keep the fuel consumption numbers up (or down however u look at it!)

You only live once do what i did cayenne tiptronic "S" sports exhausts , k&n filters , superchip absolutly great better than any Farmers/Footballers sport - how common !!!.There like ars*****s every one's got one ! [:D]
