Hi All
I took delivery of a new Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-hybrid in March, unfortunately it gave up on me in the first 5 days and went back to the dealership for 3 weeks to repair. The computer had failed and the whole system had to be replaced, I understand it was the second Turbo that my dealership had dealt with the same issue on. Not a great start but that seems fine now.
Having just returned from holiday for 11 days, having left the car at the airports Valet Parking, I was greeted by a front-nearside puncture that the valet firm had decided was safe to drive on, destroying the tyre in the process (60mph on 7PSI looking at the tracker app!!)
Having had the vehicle recovered to my dealership (after some 3.5 hours wait for Porche Assist) and a Taxi home, I received a call from the dealership asking where I got the tyres from as they cannot secure a replacement from their suppliers.
The car is fitted on the original tyres from the factory, which are the Nexen N’Fera Sport SUV, and having looked online I am unable to source a seller for these also.
My 3 previous Cayennes have all been fitted form factory with Pirelli tyres so I’m quite shocked to find that the factory fitted tyre is a not a high performance brand.
Porsche’s own marketing is claiming the Turbo E-Hybrid is the most powerful Cayenne to-date and given the price tag that come attached to it, I expected the tyres to be as premium as the vehicle.
So not only do I have a car with a Nexen Tyres, I am stuck with the inability to replace the damaged tyre without swapping brand (meaning two new tyres), but also seems only the Pirelli P Zero is the only make available to purchase, which make it difficult to structure a claim against the valet parking operator for the repairs.
I’d be interested to hear the views of other owners, both on experiences with the new 2024 Turbo E-Hybrid and Nexen Tyres and if they know anywhere I might be able to find one, or whether I should just bite the bullet on replacing them all with an alternative make.
